    Looking to Buy Older TW200

    Hello,

I have been spending some time here learning as much as I can and am ready pick one up for myself. I'm looking to buy an older TW200 with kickstart. I'm in Bowling Green, KY (42104) and am not having much luck finding something close by. Most of what shows up when I try searchtemptest are only a few years old and I prefer an older bike. I'm willing to drive a few hours for the right deal. I was hoping a member may have something or know of a deal I have overlooked in my search. Must have a title as I plan to use this to get to work on nice days.

    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Welcome to the forum Stephen!

Set up searches on craigslist for TW200 and TW 200 for say 100 miles from your zip code (or however far you would be willing to drive). This way you will be notified via email whenever a new one is listed. Have cash readily available and be able to move quickly since the good deals don't last long.

Welcome to the forum from Ontario! I've been to Bowling Green twice both times to visit the Corvette museum. Wishing you the best of luck looking for the a T-Dub. They show up everywhere at one point or another you just have to be diligent and try what TW-Brian suggested!

Thanks for the suggestions! I have set up craiglist searches with a 200 mile radius. Hopefully something turns up soon.

    Give search tempest a try...

    https://www.searchtempest.com

It will search every local craigslist within a specified distance of your location.

I was also frustrated with the search for a TW, and used that site to find mine about 200 miles away from me. Never would have shown up on my local CL searches.

That is a killer deal. There was a deal like that in Cincinnati not long ago I missed out on.

Requesting older model year TW due to possible cost savings? Like some of the older colors and graphics? Or desire a drum front brake or the older style carburetor? Can't imagine why though.
Certainly a new millennium TW can be retrofitted with a kickstarter but converting to a drum brake entails more work, expense and parts. Drum brake would allow use of some older thin diameter but longer forks for an improved old school suspension. I would say get a new model for the joy of a disc brake plus potentially greater resale value in the future.
