    Free To A Good Home

Adoptable adorable momma cat. Available with two yearlings who need care and hand feeding for another year. If you had been by this morning you could have loaded her up and taken her home and given her a bowl of milk or a dachshund for a snack. cougar 10:2:18.jpg

Darn! Right side of image containing the north end of a southbound adult cougar got clipped off! Am trying to post complete image again.

Then again the don't call them Ghost Cats for nothing.

Ah - the old "invisible cat" routine - lol ......

Reminds me of where the phrase "pig in a poke" comes from ......

Is she a mouser, or perhaps a neighbor kidder?

The family has recently left numerous tracks inside my barn , likely hunting pack rats or ground squirrels there.
Here are old pics showing they can be encountered most times of day cougar 1 day.jpgcougar kittens.jpg

Here they are returning to daily den sites from somewhere closer to town where the poodles and schoolchildren play. A similar family group was removed several years ago who were hanging around the local grade school.

Pretty good Fred – nice that you can live side by side

Reminds me of some of those Bear pics looking in through the window you posted some time ago – great photos – but somewhat more worrying when you open the door to an outbuilding …..

I love the way the cats walk with you around the place, much like mine does – not sure who’s looking after who, but I suspect it’s a symbiotic relationship …….

Actually a bit scary when I see how vulnerable wife can be at times...times like this when I am not around but the pumas may be. COLD Marisa.jpg

I try to act cavalier and joke about it but risks are real and having alert companion dogs are wise.

A number of years back we were hiking some trails out above the Ponderosa, Looked up for no reason whatsoever, and there was a coug perched on a boulder above us, just staring down licking her chops. We swiftly negotiated back down the trail as neither of us were carrying. I mean you know they're out there, but it's those moments that remind you, out there, you aren't the top of the food chain.
Which is why we have spray, bells, and guns.
Of course keeping a couple guinea pigs in a backpack to deploy as countermeasures could work.

Unless DW is armed, I sure would not suffer large apex predators to be on the exact same route at the same time. I wouldn't kill the cats, but I sure would make that route unpopular with them and encourage them to find another route. A shot fired over their heads usually does the trick.
