    WTB: 1987 CDI & coil and wire

    Looking for both the CDI and the ignition coil/wire combo for a 1987. They just need to work, don't need to be pretty.

    You should look into upgrading the electronics on that bike to a newer year. 87 is the most problematic electrically.

    I'd love to swap it all out for the '88+ electrical system but I don't have any time at all right now to do much of anything.

    At least the coil and CDI I can deal with in just a few minutes.

    I have a CDI for an '87 that works fine. I was going to be proactive and replace it with a new one sometime soon. How much were you expecting to pay?

    I found a new cdi at my yamaha dealer 307.00 not cheap, any body know how much it would run to change over to the 88 and later style? can it be done without having to change out the entire electrical system? I know it would need new flywheel and coils cdi and so on but don't know the whole story. I am thinking motorcyle wrecking yard might be the way to go, any clue what years I shoul look for? 88-?
