    Sweetwater Videos

This might be the single track Donzo found last year on our Group Ride. Adam & I started late in the day exploring on a whim. After a few meandering miles the trail seemed destined to be heading for the Walker River some 3,500+ feet below. We were thrilled with the potential. Unfortunately my cell phone fell out on the trail and the video camera died about three and a half miles in. So the video fades just about when things get interesting. Here is what I did video. Need to return sometime with more daylight as trail was getting challenging. We turned around where a return would have required deep creek crossing right into an near vertical stream embankment followed by a 10 ft hillclimb. No problem to go down, would take time and effort to retreat should we encounter more UGGKNOWNS . As is we got back to camp under failing daylight.

Does get the single track juices flowing watching this video. One of the days when I went out riding by myself for the afternoon, I think I remember running across or too this trail. I remember seeing some other trail riders coming in the opposite way but can't remember if I was alone when I saw them or part of the Donzo Party that one day. Looked like some fun riding for sure.

The single track began about half a mile from where Donzo tipped over the first evening out and you stopped to help.

Here are some clips from the next day's trip up Mt. Paterson. Adam needed better knobbys and sufficient mileage on new bike to twist throttle more than 4,000 rpms or so. Since I didn't tell Adam how long I would be gone I only played atop Mt.Paterson for a few minutes but it sure looked possible to continue on to Wheeler Peak and down to the Bufort abandoned mine camp some day at 10,200 ft or so.

Come back Admiral and we'll finish some of these half completed adventures. Betty doesn't sound too anaemic above 11,000 ft so Wilbur might do OK too. Just no wheeling at the summit.

About crapped my pants when you rode up to the edge and said "nope". eeks!

We'll have to see when I can make it down again. Heading into the meat of the fire season and things are starting to get busy. Have to see how the the fire season lasts and how bad it is. The road down Mt. Patterson looked loose for sure.

Newly edited replacement video for the above. Think this is another single track that Donzo rode last year with Adam and someone else. For a new guy he sure found some gems.

The sparkling near the end are countless butterflies we would encounter licking minerals from damp soils at creek crossings. White& blue, orange, yellow, in groups of several dozen. Dragon flies too.

Rider21, I saw your snowshoe rabbit, once again hoping through camp.
Get that knee healthy and come ride with us again!

More Awesomeness. Is the Single track to the right (SE) I think near Lobdell lake? I started riding one last year that I think you started too but we both turned around cause we were alone and didn’t want to chance it.

I don’t understand the words in the last soundtrack but it sounds good. I like it. Sounds like she’s singing “holy moly).

    Right you are again Admiral!
Once again we find last minute treasures to explore when we really should be loading up and heading home. Satellite imagery seems to indicate that single track goes for a few miles up valley, over saddle and descends towards mine prospects to the east. Another reason to return, right?
Soundtrack is Brazilian folk music sung in Portuguese so thus unintelligible.
