While I was wiring in a 12v outlet today I took a look at my glass fuse holder. The 2 bullet connectors on either side of the fuse look a bit shorter than the normal crimp on ones I get at Napa. Do you know if they'll fit or should I just cut them out and solder/shrink wrap the ATC fuse holder in?

i just bought a 1993 tw200 with 1200 miles on it. I took it to a yamaha dealer in chiliwack and paid him $400 to rebuild the carb and give it a top tune up and fresh oil and a general inspection to make sure all systems are safe and good. Problem is the bike does not start for me. It has the electric start. Then when the battery is almost dead I'll try the kick start. Then when I'm totally pissed off I'll try to jum start it down my driveway. Eventually it will fire over. Last night same thing happened then I took it for a 5 mile run down the freeway to fresh 91 octane fuel in. It would not start again at the station. Then I got it going and went back another 45 miles and it would not start up again. I loaded it up and took it back to the mecahnic and told him the problem. He fires it up with the electric starter right up! So I took it back home but same problem again! No start.

I'm doing everything right in the starting procedure that I know of. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this bike ain't firing up?

Take it back, most likely he doesn't have the carb adjusted right, you paid good money to get it running right and it should be.

Have you pulled the spark plug to see what it looks like?

Your bike shouldn't need 91 octane, use 87.

Have you checked your battery connections? Take them off, clean them of any corrosion, hook them back up and make sure they are tight. Sometimes a loose connection will give you that problem.

When you say the battery is good, what does that mean? Have you checked the battery voltage? A fully charged resting battery has 12.6-12.8V.

Nothing happens when you hit the starter button? No noises or clicking at all? You are doing it right with the clutch pulled in when you try and start it? The bike is in neutral?

Do you have any lights or horn, or does nothing electrical work? We need more information.

theres a kill switch on the kickstand. you can search this forum for how to disable it.
You really should fix the kickstand kill switch and not disable it. It's there for a reason - if you forget to pick up the kickstand and ride away and make a left hand turn, you will go down when the kickstand hits the ground and the rear wheel gets picked up off the road.

I'm having the same problem. My bike sat for about 4 months. I put the battery on a trickle charger and got it charged up to 12.5 (which maybe is just too low for the full load and needs to be replaced?). I replaced the fuse, just to be sure. Im expecting to have to take apart the carb and clean it (which will be my first time besides on a moped or a chainsaw)however, I was really hoping for some sign of life from the electrics when i turn it on. No clicking, no lights, no buzzzing. nothin. my next plan is to replace the spark plug, which seems fine, and try cleaning the carb to see if i can get it to kickstart and then go from there?
