That's kind of you to say but where are the upgrades?

He lists basic maintenance items, ie; carb work, tires, battery, etc., and some add-ons.

My concern would be the dried out gaskets, seals, corroded electrical components, etc., from sitting for 26 years.

That's what costs time, money, and work!

I once bought an old car with 1,100 original miles. Changed the oil in it and it sprung leaks everywhere. I bought it cheap and sold it cheaper. I've had lots of old mowers, motorcycles, tractors, and other assorted equipment. Under the paint and new parts, it's still an old machine.

I agree the price seems a little high but hey, it's an auction so it may sell lower. The guy seems legit, however I noticed that the chain in one of the photos has red over spray on it so the frame Has been repainted...I have an '87 with 12,000 miles that looks rougher but still runs like a charm. That is, once I cleaned the carb and replaced the CDI unit- a weak link on the '87's. So...? Newer TW's in excellent shape can be bought cheaper and I would never expect over $1000 for my '87...

Ebay is the measuring stick of what the market will bear. When people get angry that other people are bidding so much it just means they're not bringing enough to the table. I have a 1964 Vespa in my basement in several boxes that is worth more than my running, titled TW. That's just how the cookie crumbles
