I'm getting ready to buy a 1989 TW200. Unfortunately it has some damage to the front end. I'm told that it needs new forks and rim. I'm seeing parts out there but I don't know what years forks and rims will fit and function well.

Any help on parts swap between years would really help.

Any year with a drum brake will fit, '87-00.

For an '01+ disc you'll need the wheel, caliper, master cylinder, hose and left lower leg, if your right one is still good.

All the fork tubes and right lower legs are the same, drum or disc, as are the steering bearings. All the triple trees are the same except there's an extra tapped hole in the disc lower tree for a brake hose mount. Early lowers had drain plugs but are otherwise interchangeable.

Hope that helps.

Pete, I live on Garwood rd. just north of CDA. I have a 87 with what I think is a good front end if you would like to come by and take a look at it.
