Announcing the 1st Ever New England "Herd of Turtles Rally"

in conjuction with the famous akaRob's Camp and Ride

October 28th to 30th at Mt. Misery campground

Pachaug State Forest, Voluntown Ct.

We have at least 4 TW riders showing up. Why don't you join us?

We'll probably ride on Saturday the 29th, at least.

There is no requirement to camp, but it's free if you do. (or so I've heard)

There are hundreds of miles of great riding in the area, from easy country roads, to graded dirt park roads,

unmaintained abandoned roads,to gnarly, challenging trails.

We'll plan one or more rides depending on what attendees want to tackle.

Mrs Trip likes the easy dirt. Maybe you'd rather ride "babyhead hill"

Beat yourself up on the entire 58 mile "Enduro loop"

Don't miss the largest gathering of TW200's east of the Rockies!!

Your bike must be registered. No jerks, please!

Post up here or PM me for more info and if you think you can make it.

Happy Trails!

Woo Hoo!!

Looks like we are already up to 5 participants!!

I will post a list of the likely suspects once I get some confirmations.

Did I mention that every attendee is going home with a Free TW200 lapel pin??

Take a look at my avatar. I'm the PinHead behind www.LapelPinPlanet.com

It's only, what, 3500 miles to get here? You can get one too.

(actually, Lizrdbrth, seeing how I shamelessly stole the "Herd of Turtles" metaphor from your excellent nuptial adventure, if you PM me a mailing address, I'd be happy to send you a couple as late wedding gifts.)

I love the Shinji Kazama reference. I spent many an evening searching for details on the expedition, and the bike itself.

count me in! if my carb is ready.
I've got a spare off a 93 you can use if you can't get it working. Now I really have to get the engine swapped so I can get one of those lapel pins.

Here is a shot of Baby Head Hill

Another shot of from the spring time

This is part of the trail before I cleared it out. If the water is down it is still real rocky but there is a go around for everything.

The enduro loop has a lot of rocks and water to deal with. This part of the state has a lot of dirt roads to explore. The guys with the bigger bikes have some nice rides mappped out in this area. Here is one of the big bike loops.

thanks for the offer for the use of the carb rockpile. my carb is working but i got a very small crack in the float chamber which allows a small gas leak. i think im just gonna seal it with some superglue and then cover it over with some RTV super black. i hope the superglue will slightly seep into the crack. thats what some shops do for people who dont wanna spend alot of cash. it should last for a couple weeks till i get a new carb. it sucks to have to buy a whole new carb only when i need a float chamber. thats what i get for being the type of person who just cant leave well enough alone. if needed ill deph take you up on the offer though. thanks a bunch.

Mrs. Trip, Turtledub, and I rode almost all of this loop today.

Ended up being 107 miles round trip from our house. We met Turtledub at the Middle of Nowhere Diner

This is the route planned for Sunday's Big Bike Drop-O-Rama in conjunction with the camp and ride.

We'll do the TW200 rally ride on Saturday, the 29th.

Anyone is welcome to ride the Enduro rides
or the big bike friendly rides
going on for the weekend.

Hope you're going to join us!

Sounds/looks like a blast, however, 4,513.55 miles for me to get there is just a wee bit too much. Have fun guys and gals.

Thanks, AlaskaTdub! Its still 2 weeks away...

Those pics really make me miss New England where I spent a good part of my childhood. I used to ride my mini bike with my german shepherds chasing me on trails much like the ones you show - then back to the house and the wet dog smell in the mud room. Good stuff. I wish I could join you guys and look forward to seeing more after your HOTR!

Looks like fun! I'm jealous!. Try Jb weld for carb bowl leak. We've used it for transmission cracks and such......

JB Weld is 2 part epoxy you can get at auto stores or most hardware stores. It cures to about the same consistency as aluminium as far as machining. You can sand or file it down for aesthetics.

New England "Herd of Turtles Rally"

We'll meet this coming Saturday at Mt. Misery Campground at Pauchaug State Forest in Voluntown, CT.

"Meet & Greet" will be from 9:00am to 10:00am. We'll look at each others bikes and basically just shoot the shit for a while.

I'm figuring we'll take a ride through some easy to moderate roads and trails in the Arcadia/ Pachaug area.

We'll probably do 60 to 80 miles, and we'll stop for some lunch along the way. I've got a general route in mind, but Rockpile is also very familiar with the area, and I'm looking forward to trying some new trails.

I've been beating the bushes and think we'll have 5 Riders on TW200s:

Rhode Trip

Mrs. Trip

Rockpile

Mr. Zannini

Turtledub

I'm hoping we can all make it. If you're a lurker, please feel free to just show up.

I think we will qualify as "The Largest Assembly of TW200 owners East of the Rockies!!"

Its too bad the TW forum doesn't have a better way of keeping track of members' locations...I know there are other TW200 owners nearby, but I have not been able to get in touch with them.
