Weather is perfect! Sunny day predicted with highs in low 60's. Meet at low water bridge (highway 16 at county rd 40) at 9:30ish, saturday, jan 7th. Heading out 10:00 am, try to get back to bridge 4:00ish since sunset is at about 5:00. Bring extra fuel cuz not sure how many miles we'll cover in 6 hours of riding. We may not have enough time to really explore knoxville OHV but if all goes we'll explore it next time. we can move time but wanted go give enough time for those further away to bridge than me. We've got 3 days to hash out the details and see who can make it. If nobody but me shows guess I'll be heading all the way into knoxvill OHV to find and explore the red elephant mine trail which is approx 10 miles long.

I'm 80% in, sorry have a cold that I'm trying to kick. I'll have a better idea Friday afternoon. Sorry to be so waffley, but don't want to commit if there is a chance I'd bail. Sunday would be doable as I'd have an extra day to get back on track

Also I have a stock tank, with a 1.25gallon kolpin can as a back up, would that be enough fuel?

weather is looking the same for saturday and sunday so I'm good for either one. Whichever day we can get more riders will be fine with me. you have the same fuel setup as me so that would be plenty. I go approx 100 miles on my stock fuel tank which would prolly make it but I carry that extra koplin fuel pack jr along with 30oz fuel bottle just in case. Takes some of the fun out of riding when ur worried if you have enough fuel. Closest gas station is at Cache creek casino in the tiny town of brooks (10 miles from low water bridge?). If you decide ur too sick then that's okay. Once it starts raining or they release water from indian valley reservoir and/or Clear lake then low water bridge can be under water and not crossable. Thats why I would like to try and get a few more rides in before I have to wait until later spring.

See ya tomorrow at highway 16/county road 40 at 9:30. Cache creek regional park is right next to it. We'll ride at 10:00 in case Josh or anyone else can make it. Of course be gassed up/food/water. Hey Josh, you going?

Ok, I'm in. 4runner is back together, most of my gear is loaded. See you at 16/40 at 10A or earlier. Is there parking at the spot or should I leave the truck/trailer in Rumsey?

There is safe parking. You'll see closed parking lot on right but plenty of dirt parking on left.

Thanks for a great ride Mike. I'll pull the video footage tomorrow morning.

Can't wait to go back and ride the red elephant trail.

Mike & Josh, great ride even if I did ride past you and go the wrong way, lol. Not sure if I am up for the Red Elephant, might be above my ability for now.

Thanks bill and josh for great ride. Have 8 pics I'll upload Monday. The wind was fierce on way to and from our riding area (45 miles each way). Total miles on my GPS showed 162 miles. So It looks like all three of us rode 72 fun filled miles. Nice that the big hills really take the wind away and really only noticed it on top of the ridges. Of course no adventure is complete without someone getting lost. Lol. Luckily we found bill before it got dark and all headed back to our starting point. I want to head back to red elephant mine trail. The sign says 12 miles. It looks tricky and is a good test of balance. I mentioned to josh that its not too steep and he replied "yet" lol. Looking forward to getting more riders and heading back.

I think you'll be fine on Red Elephant. I'm going to assume that one right hander was the toughest part.
Plus with a bigger group we could plan lines a little better. Looking forward to getting back there, and attempting Red Elephant

I just need to figure out how to embed videos and I can post a couple short vids.

Upload your video to a video hosting site like Youtube. Once uploaded go to the site you uploaded your video to and play the video, then pause it. Copy the address and then use the insert media button (last one on the right) to insert the video into your post. Don't forget to delete the existing http: in the insert media window before pasting the video address into it. I look forward to seeing your videos.
