Clean title, ready to transfer. Inspection good until July 2012. Shed kept, it's not 100% sealed like a garage but it stays cool, out of the sun and completely dry which are the most important things to worry about. Cosmetically the bike looks OK, you can tell it's 10 years old and you're not gonna win any fashion shows but it's not trashed by a long shot. Very little, if any rust on the rims and frame.

I believe I am the third owner, I got the bike at 1950 miles. From what I've gathered from breif chat with the guy that sold it to me, the first owner put the 1950 miles on it and stopped using it, and probably sold it to get rid of it likely cheap to the guy who sold it to me who probably fixed it up a bit.

The bike is all stock except the sprockets and tires, At 8500 miles the bike received a whole new drive system. 14/47 sprockets from JT, a nice new DID O-ring chain - along with a set of TW203/204 street tires complete with new tubes. PO claims to have put a new battery in before he sold it to me, that was June '10 so the battery should be only a little over a year old now. I checked the fluid levels yesterday and after not checking for a year, the levels were still perfect on every one right between the lines!

Runs perfectly fine, I've not had one problem since I got the bike and I never run it hard or red-line it, always run it nice and easy until fully warm etc., I also never ride the bike in temperatures above 80-85 degrees, becaquse it seems to get too hot. I always treat everything I own with ultimate care because I can't afford for stuff to break.

Maintanence:

-Valves: Adjusted when I first got it at 1950, then at 7500 miles, and finally just recently at 11,100 miles. Always just a hair off spec, nothing major.

-Chain: The new O-ring chain has not needed even one adjustment after 5,500 miles, perfectly within spec.

Oil: Changed when I got it cause I wanted to make sure I was running "the good stuff" and then at 5000 miles, and the last change was 8500 miles where I changed it to 20-50 for spring/summmer temps. I always use the good 10$/QT MC specific oil so the bike should be as happy as can be. I changed the filter at 5000 miles, cleaned and re-used at 8500 since it looked OK. Latest change at 11,300 miles and now another at 13,500 miles back to 10-40 for the winter.

The only problem I am aware of is the floats in the carb are screwed up, if you leave the tank turned on it will flood them and leak within 30 seconds. The whole thing could probably use a good rebuild for somebody that knows how, but other than it leaking it functions just fine - I've never had any problems with it over-filling while the bike is running or anything like that. Idles fine, accels fine and cruises fine with no problem.

There's also a really tiny dent in the tank. No idea what happened since it was done by a PO, but it's only about the size of a dime so you won't ever even notice.

Offers, questions? please do feel free to post or PM! Test rides are welcome to those with serious interest in buying. I have nothing to hide!

Just did a ride tonight, 9975 miles to be exact now. I do ride the bike regularly so it will definitely be over 10,000 by the time it sells, I'll post an updated milage count every 300 or so.

The bike comes with the searns seat cover too by the way, and I put a towel underneath it which levels the seat out, much more comfortable than the stock seat cause it pushes you too far forward. I also have the original owner's manual and tool kit.

10,710 miles now, still running strong . It's about due for a oil and filter change, so it will be fresh with some good 20-50.

Pictures finally up! I had a few reqests and I finally got around to getting them.

No offers yet, price dropped to 1700 and the new mileage is just under 11,000, 10,954.

I haven't got around to that oil change I mentioned yet, but it's still light yellow anyway so there's really no need. I could probably do intervals of 4-5k if I wanted to given it's all easy on-road miles. I'll still have it changed by the time it's sold regardless.

By the way just incase anybody is interested, I also have a 2004 TTR-125E that runs great that I'd like to get $900 for. If you happen to want both of them I'll cut you a deal for $2500.

Just did the valves today at 11,102 miles. Last adjustment was 7500 miles, and since then the valves seemed to stay put for the most part - exhaust valve was nice and tight at 0.125 MM, 0.152 would not fit at all (spec is 0.11-0.15 MM) The intake valve was a little loose about 0.10MM, I adjusted it straight down the middle, to 0.075 (Spec is 0.05-0.09)

Did a test ride and it runs great. Sounds about the same, it seems to have a little more low-end power adjusting the intake valve but it may be my imagination, I can't tell for sure.

Did the oil change tonight at 11,322 miles. I guess it wasn't as light yellow as I thought because it was dark yellow going on black, definitely ready for a change. That's after 2800 miles, so you could easily push it to 3000 intervals if you wanted to, though 2500 may be better. Somewhere between 2-3 anyway, no more.

Still no interest, the price isn't too high is it? I know the miles are high, but if anything that just proves the bike has been reliable and will likely be for much longer.

I'll just assume nobody from around this general area has seen this yet. Just a matter of time as long as the price is right.

I PM'd you a few times--I'm interested. Please write me at the email I PM'd you.

Price dropped again to $1500, don't think I will go any lower for now.

New mileage count is just under 12k, 11,973. Still running fine and the chain is still flawless with no adjustments required since 8500 miles.

I'd say your price is about right, but you'd be best to have a look at Craigslist and other places in your area to see what TWs are going for. Where are your advertising? If you don't get the bike ad seen by enough folks, you can lower the price all you want and you won't find the right person. Is your bike listed on Craigslist? I find that to be a great way to reach folks these days.

It's not yet, no. I've been meaning to but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'll put on there eventually (when I start to really really realllllllly want a new bike and get impatient
) but for now I'll just leave this topic up to see if anybody here gets it.

Thanks for confirming that the price is about right - I figured it was pretty fair even with the mileage but a second opinion is always nice.

I bought a '91 nighthawk 250 about a month ago as a filler bike before I get something in the 300-750 range and just today finally got it running good - damn what a nice smooth ride and smooth sounding engine compared to the bumpy, noisy TW. I love it!

So now much more eager to sell the TW, so it's on CL. maybe that will spark up some buyers competition...hehe I doubt it. So far no real offers just a scam email from a guy saying he lives god knows where I don't even remember the name of the place(probably made up) he said he would have one of his "agents" come by check it out and pay me via some kind of online thing from overseas. yeah right i'll lose my cash at best and worst case might have a damn hitman or plain robber come to my house or something. :/

Mileage is around 12,100 now on the TW. It will definitely be going up much slower now with the nighthawk as my main bike, but I will still do a short little 5-10 mile ride on the TW every few days to keep it clean inside.

No luck at all on CL yet, just a few scam emails that were written so bad it's like a 5 year old worded them. How the hell they expect people to fall for stuff like that is beyond me.

But anyway bike is still for sale, I will edit the original post to SOLD when it's gone, so if the pictures are there it's still for sale. I still have the 2004 TTR125 as well that I want $900 for, and you can grab both of them for just $2200 now. Test rides are welcome on both bikes, I have a cool 1/4 mile trail in the woods with a hill climb near the end so you can test the 125.

somebody must want these bikes! come on I really want a nice new road bike!! After riding the 250, I think I have settled on getting the nighthawk 750 with automatic valve adjusters, so if anybody happens to have one for sale I will trade one/both bikes + cash or just cash for one.

I have a 2005 that I bought with 1200miles on it in 07'. When I would ride on the road at a max of 52mph it sounded like the engine was going to blow at any second. That was my top speed, 52mph no matter what. I was very close to selling it. I read somewhere on this forum that these engines need to be run hard to break them in right. I changed the oil with Amsoil motorcycle oil for air cooled engines. I road max throttle every where I went. I thought I was going to tear it up, but they really are as tough as they look. Gradually speed picked up. Now I can comfortably ride at 60, and if I really push it, with no headwind I can hit 72. The engine sounds smoother and happier. Now I won't trade it for any other bike.

you talking about a nighthawk 250? yeah they can be kinda fast at 50, about 5200 but that's normal for a 250 and especially being a twin with a 53 x 53, it should easily handle 5-6k like it's nothing and last a really long time.

still, dunno why you posted that on my for sale topic?

I just ordered a 47T sprocket I will have it installed on the bike for the sale. I'm starting to think 45 is too tall for the bike, it's been acting like it wants to bog down at 40-45 mph in top gear which is BS, cause 45 is too high for 4th.

I should be able to install it without changing out the chain and front, cause they only have 4000 miles and they're still like new so a new sprocket on the back shouldn't hurt anything.

I also have the 50T stock gear (only has 2000 miles, good shape) that will be included and I'll install it before sold upon request, otherwise it will have the 47.

cmon somebody! tired of the CL scam emails.
