My 2003 TW200 starts and runs well, and the engine turns off by a twist of the key. However, toggling the kill switch (right handle) does not kill the engine. With the key in place, the ignition button will turn the engine over even if the kill switch is set to not run. I disassembled the switch assembly and cleaned it, but no dice. The wires don’t appear to be cracked or exposed anywhere.
I’m thinking that the RH kill switch may not be the source of the problem, however. The side stand switch also does not kill the engine. So, I can ride in gear with the stand lowered, which isn’t the best idea. The side stand switch wires appear to be in good condition but the switch won’t do anything - doesn’t make a difference if it’s even plugged in at the connection under the seat…
I’d like to get my kill switches working again but I’m having a hard time finding any way to do that. What could be causing both of them to malfunction?
Any ideas/suggestions of where to look next would be awesome. I can post a copy of the wiring diagram I’ve been referencing, if that helps. Thanks in advance!!!

A real quick look at the wiring diagram and it appears (my guess is) your problem is within the red dotted line. First thing, make sure your ground wire is really grounded!

I have a couple theory's. Either the ignition cutoff relay is bad or you have a ground happening where you shouldn't on the blue and yellow wire between thew relay and the CDI or between the kill switch and the relay. That circuit provides a ground to the CDI thru the kill switch as well as the side stand switch, the kill switch interrupts the ground which is what makes me think its either a shorted wire or the relay itself. Given that your starter will crank no matter what, im thinking its a rubbed wire.

The problem could even lie in the harness for the kill switch itself, he two red wires in there are the kill switch and if they are shorted to each other it could do what you are describing.

I would start by giving the harness a good inspection to make sure you don't have any rub points that have rubbed thru to ground and also get a relay in case you need to swap it.
