Hi all

Ive had my TW125 since i was 17 (now 33) and its been rebuilt over the last year or so. Last thing i need is a carb, im having trouble finding an OEM part from anywhere. Do you guys know of any secret breakers, or, be able to point me towards a suitable carb? Cheers in advance for any help

Luke

What size carb, type and who made it would help in the search. Maybe something from another Yamaha 125 would be similar? I looked at cmsnl.com this morning and oem carbs for the TW 125 are something like 600 euros plus shipping. That would hurt a lot. You might try Aliexpress.com. I have ordered carb parts from them and they work fine and the quality is good. They may carry a repop carb that is close to what you need. Or maybe epay or even amazon.

I prefer the throttle response of the early model "slider" carbs 1987 to 2000 on TW200's but OEM pricing is about the same as the newer diaphragm carbs

I think the Serow aka xt225 / TTR225 etc also use a slider style carb

but whats wrong with your original TW125 carb ?

unless it has a broken float mount post it's easy to fix / refresh with OEM parts

in 99.9% of cases I have run across a pilot jet, needle seat set, and bowl O-ring is all it takes to refresh a TW carb to new running condition

on rare occasions the main diaphragm or the smaller side diaphragm the rubber can dry out and crack but thats very unusual. re the small diaphragm on the side it has a tight fitting brass piston sliding in the aluminum carb body this often needs to be polished and smooth the sharp piston edges along with some synthetic oil for lube (just a drop)

I have never seen a china clone carb run properly and they can vary day to day
if yo do run a clone keep the OEM carb it's aprx $500 in the value of the bike when you go to sell the bike and if the buyer notices the clone carb

even a clone that "runs" never has the proper mixture and swapping back to OEM is a huge difference
