I bought my brand new 2010 on 4/2/11. It was mislabeled as an 09' so I got it for $3,600 plus fees adding up to just under $6000 w/ a 5yr warranty (I intend to pay it off early). I was just tired of having my chinese 150cc scooter that did not like going off road due to its lack of suspension in spite of the dual sport tires that i put on it which helped a lot with traction. I figured it was time to get my first motorcycle at 26yrs old. Blah blah blah... Anyways back to the point of this thread, is it just me or does the 2010 and the 2011 look exactly the same?! Every picture I look at, it appears the decals and colors are EXACTLY the same.

The changes on the TW are few and far between over the past 25 years or so. The only ones I would consider noteworthy are the loss of the kickstarter and the switch to a disc brake on the front. Other than that, it is mostly color and sticker changes.

Hope you enjoy your new bike. Congratulations.

I have noticed that every year the colors and stickers change slightly, but the 2010 and 2011 look EXACTLY the same. I was just curious if anyone had spotted the difference.

Are you sure you are dealing with the correct model year. Often the Vin number shows a manufacture date that is one year earlier than the model year for the bike. The color scheme etc will be dependent on the model year and not the year of manufacture. Just a thought. I've no idea what you are looking at for comparing the two years. TW's are like old men, its not how old they actually are, but how healthy they are. Me I'm trying to be the new model year despite my year of manufacture. Cheers, At least in the older bikes the sticker on the steering tube shows both the year coded in the vin and an actual model year written in four numerals 20XX. Tom

I know... I have a 2010 manufactured in 09'. I am mainly basing my questions on the yamaha website pictures and a few other sites. I saw the 2011 is the same red and white color/decals as the 2010 and for 2012 they went back to a blue and white color scheme. I enjoy looking at all the different years and spotting the little differences. These are the only years that I cant spot any differences.

I have the '09 with the blue decals.... the '12 is the same colors. But there is a difference, they switched the front fender from black to white! WOW guess it is their way of keeping costs down and inventory counts to a min. So if I put a white fender on my '09, it will then be an '12 model and increase its resale value? Dont think it really matters what year you have, just that you have one is what counts. Enjoy your new bike and ride safe, Chris

Lol. I did notice that about the 09' and the 12'. I have looked at every year very closely and there's a very minute differences between several years, such as just a different fender color. But again, has ANYONE spotted the difference between the 10' and the 11'???
