They come with the same sh**y stock front tire, they still don't have a kick starter, and the cost for a new one went up... again.

Other than that, I'd like to have one.

Oh, I haven't checked lately... do they still come with a cr*p non-o-ring chain?

Is anyone aware of any problems with the 2012 TW200 Models?

Just turned mine over @2000 miles... no real "problems" with the model year but this is the second TW I have had that we are finding tiny metal filings on the oil filter. (Yes I am so lazy about working on bikes that I no longer even change my own oil... used to like working on them and cleaning them but now I just want to ride)

Had a 2007 and the dealer didn't want it as a trade because of this. The dealership owner has his own TW that he uses for a pit bike and said his filter doesn't look like that. (?)

Took the 2012 in for the 1st change and the dealer showed me the filter and suggested I might want to change it again before 4,000 mi., so I did again at near 1000... still happening and again at about 1500... still a little there.

Finally decided to call Yamaha since I have a 5 year factory warranty... they said it shouldn't be an issue and don't need to change it again until it's due. Just wanted it in their records.

Don't know if anyone else had this happen with their TW....

Also have nearly 3000 miles on mine in about 3-4 months with no trouble, other than those tires get squirrelly at over 65 mph...

Will be changing my oil this week (to semi synth) and will let ya know what I find.

I have a '12. I don't have a lot of miles on it but I've had no problems. Regarding the metal in the oil, I changed my oil the first time at 20 miles and it looked like metal a deep metal flake paint with lots of metal flakes. There were a lot of shavings on the filter. Oil change again at 100 miles and just a few shavings on the filter. The oil looked normal. Same for the next oil change. In other words, I think you get a lot of shavings on break-in, but I'd think it should be fairly shaving free after that.

Thanks for the note about the metal in the oil... my 2007 had 4500 miles on it and I don't know how it was broken in or how many oil changes before I got it, but I must have changed the oil 2-3 times while I had it and the last time was when the dealer showed concern about the stuff in the oil.

Anyway, with the 2012... any issues with it will be on Yamaha cause I have 5 years...

I just bought a used 2007, and it has a small oil leak that appears to be coming from the head right by the starter. Did you have that problem? Did you experience any other problems with the 2007? Did you have shavings in the filter every time you changed the oil?

I did have the common base gasket oil weep, which wasn't really a problem but apparently is common in 2007's. I only remember the last oilk change around 4500 miles when there was stuff in the oil or on the filter. However the bike ran fine and I didn't really have any serious problems with it.

ericj -- I have an '87 with 18K+ miles on it. I glued a magnet in the drain plug to catch the metal flake and catch metal flake it does!

I use one of the metal screen oil filters and whenever I check it it is pretty clean. I try to change the oil every 1,500 to 2,000 miles which is probably overkill. I use Mobil 1 4t Racing oil. I have no problem cruising for many miles at 60mph with my 14/55 sprockets. The tach says it is just under 9,000 rpm.

Personally I think there will always be a little metal in the oil. I have always found a little metal in the oil. All those moving parts rubbing against each other -- the wonder is there isn't more metal in the oil than there is. If you have a 5 year warranty I say rack up as many miles as you can and don't worry about it.

I believe i accelerated break in with a bunch of hi speed runs getting my jetting dialed in, that and rechecking that it still is dialed in
, last change showed little if any shavings, so i made the decision to use up some amsoil i had leftover from a previous bike/project
