Well, after more than a month of prep work, all more than over due, this is the message I receive this morning.:(

"Washington Area Trail Riders - WATR

Sorry, the 2015 Shenandoah 500 has been cancelled due to weather. Refunds will be issued through EventBrite. More info to follow."

"Sorry", really :angry5: I have so been looking forward to this weekend. After a dirt dry summer and working all over the east coast this was to be MY vacation, @#$%it.

First major ride with the TW and was to ride with the Scout Master, dang a hurricane.

Makes me think of Jimmy Buffet.

Oops, fixed now. Charlotte, NC in the great state of Mecklenburg. We are in the county, what little remains, right near the Catawba River NOT in the city.
If anyone knows the US National Whitewater Center, on a quiet night we can here the water running.

Tom, I agree with the last statement but the governor has issued a state of emergency as the rain has been bearing down on us for more than a week now. The moisture has been coming in from the east, banking against the mountains which squeezes the rain out of the clouds so they've had 5+ inches in just a few days. Now "Joaquin" is moving in with even more rain so it's treacherous all over the state.
After slathering "Never Wet" all over my gear last night, I awoke this morning knowing this event would be cancelled. I've been receiving flash flood warnings for Mount Solon all week. Crossing a slow moving stream is one thing, crossing a swollen fast moving creek is another.
Another friend was heading to the hills for a fly fishing / drink fest gathering so it's not just our weekend plans ruined.

Y'all stay dry,

Jerry T
