Everyone seems to be jumping on this bandwagon. Kawasaki's Ninja H2, Yamaha's R1M, Ducati Panigale 1299S, Honda RC213V-S prototype... Should be interesting to see a comparison of these machines (and if Honda will make some kind of production version of the RC). What disappoints me a little is that Kawasaki is giving the Ninja H2 only 200 horsepower. I understand Kawasaki's hesitancy to let loose a 300 horsepower killing and maiming machine into the wild of public roads (where reliability is also more of a concern), hence the need to detune it a little. Still, I was looking for more like 260 from the street version...anything under 230 is almost an insult. The Panigale making more horsepower than the H2 is a bit of a disgrace lol (even BMW matches this figure, with a naturally aspirated engine of the same displacement!). Come on Kawasaki, you're better than that! Maybe a comparison will show that it's not all about the numbers and the Ninja will handily out-accelerate the others.

The Panigale making more horsepower than the H2 is a bit of a disgrace. Come on Kawasaki, you're better than that!
Other than the track, where can you actually use that much horsepower?

While this sentiment is quite accurate, remember that a Ninja H2, while street legal, could still be taken to a race track, at which point the 200 horsepower is really nothing special in this day and age.

Sure, but some people (such as myself) like the idea of being able to both smoke everyone at a track day and ride to work on the same machine. IMO, there'd be no reason to buy anything more powerful than a CBR 500 for pure, legal street use. In other words, the only point of having anything with more power than that is to essentially have a street legal track bike. By this logic, if the Ninja H2 is to exist at all, it may as well have stupid numbers. Anyway this is just my opinion. I'm not above respecting those of others. To each his own :)

I keep forgetting that in some areas you guys have track days. I'll bet there isn't a road course track within 1000 miles of me.

Maybe Kaw's thinking how many many riders can handle that much power? Lets face it most young riders think their badazzes and can out ride Rossi. The truth comes out the first time they come cooking into a 100MPH corner that they could not handle at 60MPH and ........

Very true. Lots of College Freshmen clowns out there who couldn't effectively use 30 horsepower, let alone 300 ;) Many of them crumple up their first bikes (crotch rockets) and give up riding (if they aren't dead). Still, I maintain that if Kawasaki bothered to release a street legal version of the legend that is the H2, it should have had a lot more than 200 horsepower.
