Ha, ha, ha... The advertisers threw a 2016 Mitsubishi Highlander thread into the mix, so I clicked on it to comment, but you can't. So I return to the OFF-TOPIC threads and it is gone!

Yes, I did search on that vehicle recently and "BIG BROTHER" probably knows it, but they aren't going to change or influence my purchase decisions one bit.

What I was going to comment on is this.

The Mitsubishi Highlander 4X4 makes a diesel that gets over 50mpg. America claims they are so concerned about fuel use, yet they don't sell this (and many other diesel vehicles with like wonderful mileage figures) in the USA.

Get those small clean diesel vehicles in the USA please!

RANT OVER... Thx for look'n

Now that the tide went out on VW and everyone knows they were swing naked, we might know why the so called small "clean diesels" aren't coming our way.

I must admit, I never imagined a company could affect the perception of an entire nation because of their stupid actions, but VW and Audi have managed to do it. Not only are Americans down on VW, they are increasingly down on Germany in general. Maybe it's the hangover memories of WWII and the deep seeded lack of trust in the back of peoples minds, who knows. VW and Audi be damned! You have affected the world perception of Germany and all the products they produce; whether that perception is justified or not.

"Clean diesel" is an oxymoron. Do some research on how they "clean" them up. There are a lot of of other manufacturers holding their breath right now.

I still have my eye on the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X4 V6 Diesel, MB Sprinter 4X4 and the not yet imported MB Marco Polo Camper Van Diesel, but all of those have crazy expensive retail list prices... :( For now I'll keep my 2012 Mini Cooper GT daily driver and 1968 International Harvester Travelall 4X4 with 392V8 and 5spd manual medium duty trans that will tow an aircraft carrier.
