Has anyone bought a new 2023 TW lately ? If so how much did it cost OTD,what part of the country.
Forum member "PlacerLode" is a wealth of info regarding TW values and prices, maybe shoot him a PM, he also sells VERY slightly used TW's at reasonable prices.

Not sure where you are located, but he has been known to dive many a mile to pickup/deliver bikes!

it depends on the dealer I have a buddy who got a quote back in September from a Ride Now in Phoenix where he thought he had inside connections but the quote came back at $7900 and they didn't have any in stock

The low side I hear is $6800 to $7200 leaning towards the $7200

I'm pretty much out of bikes now other than a 2021 I bought for myself with 121 miles and swore I'd not tell anyone I had it lol

If you are west coast and looking I can keep an eye out I pass on 9 out of 10 bikes these days but they are probably good deals for people planning to buy new

Hey greybeard
12K is not a lot of miles if maintenance was OK. Few miles for a well maintaned Dub. I am at just under 18K on my 2015 - change synthetic oil at 1K intervals, always have fuel with 1oz seafoam per gallon in the tank. A little anal about keeping the X ring chain and sprockets clean and lubed with Lucas chain spray.
Honestly the bike rides like new.

I was at the dealer in central California I bought my 2020 TW from. He wants 4899 plus tax,dmv fees and so on for a new 2023. Had two sitting on the floor. Probably something like 5500 when all finished. Is 4899 msrp? Im not sure.
It sounds like a few dealers are still trying to hose people.
so until I see the bike sold out the door I don't believe just tax and DMV Yamaha actually requires a destination charge
usually around $500 now the dealer could eat that but I have never seen them do it

for fun maybe someone can call them and say hey I'm taking an uber to come and buy the bike and I have to make sure I bring all the cash to cover the out the door deal and see what the real total is

dealers are trained to get the customer in the "rubber room' before shocking them with the true total and they are good at pressuring woman and old folks int paying their scam fees
o
if I knew of a dealer that sold new TW's $5500 out the door I'd buy them all

granted there used to be a western Oregon dealer that sold me new TW's for $4k out the door (no sales tax) but that was like 2011

PS I see you said central Cali I'll call that dealer if you send me the info I'm heading through there this week and I'll buy those if the price is real

PlacerLode,
The dealer is PCP Motorsports in Sacramento. Like I said $4899 plus fees when I was there a couple weeks ago.
The 5500 is a guess it may be more,it may be less. But it is a long way from the low side being 6800-7200.
The 2020 I bought new in 2020 from PCP was 4599 plus 200 for destination plus dealer fees, tax title etc. As I remember it was 5150 out the door.
2023 MSRP is $4899. PCP Motorsports does not have any in stock. As of last week they told me it would be another 2-3 months before they might be able to get anymore in.

I put my deposit down on one with David at Capitol Yamaha last week, also in Sacramento. They're supposed to be getting 3 of them in this week or next week. Out the door price depends on your county and city taxes, but with all the DMV, shipping, dealer prep, and my guaranteed-higher-than-yours tax rate, my out the door price is $6884.16.

Based on my calls to many different California Yamaha dealers, these are very hard to come by so if you're seriously interested in getting one anytime soon, I would recommend calling Capitol Yamaha without delay: 916-485-9200

A cylinder hone, new piston and a valve job would probably last you a very long time with regular oil changes. If it is wore out at 12,000 miles though, make sure and check your cam, timing chain, tensioners also. When I did a valve job around 40 or 42,000 miles there was hardly any wear. Cylinder was in spec so I slapped it back together with new cam tensioners, no new rings. I'm nearing 49,000 now. This cold rainy weather is holding the TW rides back right now.

Placer,
That "Ride Now" is as you more than likely know, a corporate entity. At last count, they have 106 dealerships across America. I've never dealt with them until recently. Back about a month or so ago, I was in a search for a new 2023 Honda Monkey. They are very rare on show room floors because kind-a like TW's, they're sought out very frequently. Well, a Cycle Trader ad revealed they had a new '23 Honda Monkey IN STOCK at the Vegas store. I immediately made a call. Yep, they had one and it was not spoken for, YET!

I made sure they actually had one by having the salesman on the phone, physically go see AND TOUCH it and take pictures of it, and then send them to me. He did that, then called me back and sent the pics via text. Yep, it was in a crate and on their lot. Again, knowing they're a valuable commodity here in the Southwest, I promptly broke out my credit card and made an over-the-phone $500 deposit.

Now, the base/MSRP was $4,199 at that time. I figured add a $1,000 for paperwork, dealer prep, taxes, and destination charges. That would have brought the little Monkey to around $5,200 or so. Once it all was confirmed that my deposit was locking that little Monkey down, I then said to them, "go ahead and send me the OUT-THE-DOOR price. I'm 70 years old and damned near had a heart attack.

They wanted $SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS for DOCUMENTATION FEES! They wanted $ FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS for DEALER PREP. They wanted $ FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS for "BATTERY PROTECTION" because the dealer is in Las Vegas and batteries don't last long there, according to the sales person.

All in all, they wanted $6,500 for a $4,199 little Honda Monkey. How in the world can they charge $400 for "dealer prep" when the bike is fully assembled? I know, I saw it in the crate and there was nothing to assemble. And it takes a dealer what, maybe 15-20 minutes to do any and all paperwork on a new bike, and they want to charge me $600 for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $400 for "Battery Protection", what the hell is that???????????????????????

Well, needless to say, I demanded my deposit back and they had to do it. Albeit it took them the better part of 3 days to do it before we saw it back on our card.

Without a doubt, I will NEVER, EVER have anything to do with that corporation again. They charge all those exorbitant fees simply because they can.

A couple of days after I simmered down from that ordeal, I made a call to a small dealership in Idaho (I'm in Lake Havasu) and was quoted $5,100 OUT THE DOOR! But they don't have a date when the next one will arrive.

Hello,
Don't hate me, way better reasons than this.
Was a new car salesman in 1984, Mazdas. A red RX7 was $3,000 over sticker or it did not leave the lot, they always did and FAST.
When a buyer would say that the dealers around were selling theirs for sticker or just a little over, we would ask,
why didn't you buy it? Always, well they didn't have one.
Response from us, If we don't have one we sell ours for sticker also!!
The TW200, XT250, Monkey, Trail 125 are all related to that RX7, 1984 Honda Prelude, Mazda Miata when the came out and many others.
Ford came out a couple of months ago saying they were going to investigate their dealers who were charging over sticker for their new E Cars and Trucks, RIGHT.
Remember the S in MSRP is suggested, the MFGs don't give a hoot what you pay as long as you do.
The ADM, additional dealer markup on some vehicles are here to stay on some vehicles like it or not, we always have a choice.
SoCal, minimum $7,000 OTD unless G Pa owns the dealership then $12.00 less.
I bought the twin to Placerlodes, 80 miles, stock, perfect! Couldn't ride it as brand spanking new looking, sold it, same $ as I had in it. Sold in hours. Guy got a great bike and price.
Bought another one that had been covered in mud with goodies on it, more to my liking. Can't take anything new and cover it in mud, thought I could but can't. Both 2021s.
