600 mile service

1694 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Trailerpark
Bought bike 300 miles this year- and it now has 650 miles

I stopped at bike dealer bought oil and oil filter. He said that the 600 mile market was the most important servicing time and can effect the bikes life.

Question is is this true? What needs to be done? I can change oil. Should I fork out the money and let the dealer do a special servicing since, milestone is important. I'm not that handy and taking apart a Carb looks tough.

If the bike runs fine there is no point in taking apart the carb. You can do the service yourself following instructions in the Service Manual.

With 600 miles you'll need a motorcycle-specific dino-based oil. Newer types of some oils can damage your bike.

Agree!......stay with the motorcycle specific oil!.....go over the entire machine and check the bolt's and nut's torque...clean and lube the chain etc.....get a service manual and follow it!!.
