Hello, I have a few questions I just could not wait until tuesday (when I pick it up) to ask.

What is the seat cover I am seeing on some bikes and is it nice ? For comfort ? To protect the original ?

I noticed when I test rode it yesterday, the front turn signals stay on, normal ?

Mine is an 03, will my head light stay on all the time or can I turn it off when in the woods ?

Will I need a crank installed ?

I read about a kit, where and how ?

Is it worth it ?

Can you roll start these if needed ?

I'm seeing a lot about the larger pegs, is there any that fit 100% without grinding or mods ? If so, where ?

Do I need to use stabil in tank sometimes or carb cleaner like sea foam ?

Are the turn signals really unbreakable or just flexible to a point ?

Thanks for any help.......

The seat cover you see is from Cabelas

It used to be a Stearn's and it came from Walmart but they don't carry them anymore. Its pretty much the same cover though. It helps keep your butt happy on the longer rides. Needed? Its nice to have.

Front turn signals (running lights) do stay on when the key is on. Its normal.

Your headlight will stay on with the key. Most states require on-road motorcycles to have a constant on headlight that you cannot turn off. There is a thread on the forum that explains how to grind off a little of the inside of the switch so you can switch from low to high then to off, BUT this is only for the older bikes. Can't remember if there is a way to do it for the newer bikes (like the one you have).

A kick starter is a great idea. Needed? If you have a bad battery of it sits for a long time its nice to have. Check out this thread.

Yes, you can roll start them.

As for the larger pegs I don't know because I don't have any. From what I've heard, most people have to modify theirs by doing a little grinding or clipping a spring.

Stabil or Seafoam isn't needed if you use your gas within a few weeks. I fill up my 5-gallon tank with fuel and add Stabil to it right away. Therefore I have "fresh" gas to use in the bike. Sometimes I add a ounce of Seafoam to my fuel tank, probably once a year. Don't know if it does anything or not, but it makes me feel better.

The turn signals are flexible to a point. They will break. I've laid my bike down hard and they didn't snap off, but I did break the housing (opposite side of the lens).

All I would add is that your in Tn. They still sell those seat pads around here. Go to Wally World with the atv and motorcycle stuff and they are rolled up and labeled under the coleman brand.

Oh and what part of Tn you in?

Maryville? You're in dualsport heaven. I hate you.

First, Complete tune, service, oil change, general nut and bolt tightening with a torque wrench. Make sure the bike is as perfect as can be before worrying about mods. You can download the manuals from the Tech Help forum sticky. Take a couple days to learn the bike.

Second, sort out the chain and sprockets. The stock chain is junk and will wear quickly, taking out the sprockets with it. This is the only genuine soft spot on a stock TW. An o-ring chain will pay for itself many times over in both money and time invested in chain maintenance.

Second, consider the batterty. Probably on its third and needing replacement. Due to the cumbersome battery access procedure, consider a sealed battery. If you have the bucks, the Shorai lithium phophates are the way to go. Otherwise, a Chinese AGM will serve you well, <$40 off ebay.

Though the turn signals are not easily broken, the brake and clutch levers are. Brush guards should be your first priority. A skidplate will protect the cases and covers from being puntured offroad.

After that, it's personal preference.

Thanks for the input.

The owner just put a new battery in.

He also put nice covers on the clutch/brake. (see photo)

This bike looks like new to me with only 2500 miles.

Welcome to the forum Revolverman.

I'm also in Murville, off of 6 mile. I've got a shop in Friendsville on 321 just past the Harley dealer called Dual Sport Touring. It's on the left where the speed limit changes to 65mph. I usually have my TW at the shop during the days. If you are in the area some day stop in a say hello!

I sure will stop in. I think I picked up one of your cards at All American Insurance the other day. I was wondering about it.
