Me and my girlfriend ride a barely street legal DRZ400E, and TTR-230 respectively.



But some of our trails near our house are really sandy, and my girlfriend struggles with the sand. She is an excellent mountain biker, and does well on the motorcycle, but sand is her nemesis.



So I ran across this bike and picked it up for $1,250. It has 4,800 miles on it, and everything on it works perfectly. It starts right up and purrs like a kitten. It is a 1989, but seems to have been babied. All the signals and indicators and everything function well. It will need new tires, and maybe chain/sprockets pretty soon, but runs well.



She followed me home in the car, and told me not to get ran over, but was surprised when I zipped past traffic. And on the curvy road going over Gates pass in Tucson, I easily left her and the other traffic behind through the tight corners. What a fun little bike!!



Now I may have to get another one, so we can go on exploration rides, and I won't be zipping away. I am anxious to see how she does on some of the sandy jeep roads with it. Should I drop the pressure around 14psi off road?

What a great looking bike! I love the seat. Congrats on your find. 14 psi should be fine for strictly off road. Play with tire pressures because rider weight, gear weight, terrain, and skill all play a part.

So that's what my bike is suppose to look like. As seen in other post my bike previous owner did a custom paint job on my '89. It a nice looking ride you have there. I really like the rear view mirrors. Congrats on the find and enjoy the new toy.

sweet '89 TW...yeah I'm with Rainman. nobody really have the same number. When I was in college about 6 years ago I had an off road bike club in Java (Indonesia). Every time we rode off road together we just deflated our tires little by little until we felt it right. We didn't even use tire pressure gauge. I didn't even know it existed

. But it worked
