Hey guys, New here and have run into a slight snag.

Part number 18 on this Page doesn't not have part 18 on it. Obviously, it should. However, after fiddling with the hose, I see no possible way that I can even get the hose to reach the carb. I've tugged, twisted and tried my best to even get them to mate up. I just don't see how it is going to fit....

Any suggestions ? It seem to run okay even with a slight gap between the boot and carb, but I dont want to suck anything bad into it. I don't plan on doing any dirt riding right away, and may not ever.. So, a K&N and removal of the airbox may be in the works anyway.

Order a new air box to carb tube. They shrink over time. I had the exact same year as yours and when I replaced the tube, it was about 1/2 inch longer than the one on the bike.

Mike,

Been there done that. I've heated mine with a hair dryer and heat gun, boiled it in water, and left it out in the sun. It works to heat it up, but after it cools it shrinks again. You need to get a new one. My old one was about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the new one.

I just bought a 1991 with the same problem. Had a new top hose off a 90's Chevrolet pickup (new). Cut it to size, with the right angle, fit perfect onto the carb and into the airbox. The redneck way to do it, but it worked!

I got my replacement airbox off ebay the other day and the hose on it was a miniature version of the one I have. I was wondering if I had gotten the wrong part, but after seeing this thread I feel relieved. I can't believe those things shrink like that!! The one I just got is off an '87 and it is literally 2/3 the size of the one off my '06.
