I finally got around to putting some holes in my lid. Four holes 15/32 dia and four 35 cent rubber plugs from ace hardware. On the inside of the lid there are a few rows of plastic ridges so I drill the holes in between the top two ridges.

The plugs stick out far enough that the side cover puts some pressure on them.. so no worries about the plugs falling out. Then I made up some wing nut bolts so I dont have to get out a screwdriver if I want to take a few plugs out.
a guy from advrider made up a bunch of stickers of our screen names so we would know who each person is at the rides.

While changing jets is best, when needed, I've been very satisfied with this temporary mod when riding at a higher elevation. Hope it works as well for you when you need it as it has for me.

last week i was running up at 8500' and was appalled at how horrible my bike ran. riding around carson pass, my bike would sputter and not take WOT, dropping down a few thousand feet and it was all fine. i bet this mod would have helped.

I have on one occasion taken the air filter out, and ran without one in clean conditions on the highway at upper elevations, It did help some.
