I asked an online AJP motorcycles America rep, about the possibility of AJP using the NC 450 motor (which is currently powering the Zongshen RX4) to build a PR6 (my terminology for that possible model). He said that, "We have a motor and a prototype of what you mention is in the works". He also talked about AJP's long term goals to get some of their other models 50 state legal after the PR7 debuts in North America (presumably, this could include the 450 model). So maybe 3 to 5 years down the road? If all goes well... We're talking about an amazing, light weight, cutting edge, 450cc enduro weapon, with streetable service requirements, for probably just over 8 grand! I can't wait! I'm just hoping the PR7 doesn't flop and tank the company with it :(


I can't help wondering if AJP actually has the NC450 engine, and he just isn't allowed to spill the beans. It would make the most logical sense, especially considering AJP's use of the 250 cc Zongshen motor (RX3 motor) in the PR5. They obviously have a cozy relationship with Zongshen already, so why would they look elsewhere for a 450 motor, right?

i don't see how the pr7 can not do well. the pr7 seems to scratch a massive adv bike itch. i also think it looks better than the yamaha adv bike that is being worked out right now. i actually think that both bikes will do great, but i'd really like to see ajp grow more.

Just read in Cycle World about BMW's new 310cc naked street bike with soon to follow GS adv. model. Under five grand and a great looking bike, that is for a new bike. I'm old, and like old things. I think 300cc's would be perfect for my TW.

I don't think it would flop, but I can think of a couple of things that could hurt sales. One, I don't think most people find it very cosmetically appealing (maybe not ugly, but just fairly mediocre in the styling department...); and two, that old Husqvarna engine (as fantastic as it was in terms of performance) had quite a few issues: if AJP doesn't/didn't work out the kinks with it before releasing the PR7...not good. Other than that though, I think it definitely does fill a gap in the market (as would a 450cc "PR6"), and it certainly has the potential to do well.

I think a 310GS ADV COULD be a nice little bike. The motor is pretty peppy for that displacement.

I'm not up on weights of motorcycles, but 350 lbs seems a little heavy for a 310 to me.??? And the bike is made in India. Good or bad, it's the first bike made outside of Germany for BMW.

i've read alot of positive comments on how the yamaha t7 prototype looks and when comparing the AJP pr7, i think that they look very similar with the edge going to the AJP. As far as a 450cc dual sport, why not the all wheel drive Christini? They are based in the U.S., it's 450cc, has AWD system that is easily disengaged, and best of all, it is VERY competitively priced. not to hijack the thread....
