Adam-in-Nevada & I spent three partial days riding in Alabama Hills prior to moving on to Death Valley. Was fun to share a favorite place of bizarre scenery while actually finding new places to ride.
The riding conditions were optimal with just enough soil moisture to prevent any dust.
The evenings were warm enough that extended night riding was very comfortable. I've become convinced that spirited single tracking through the desert under starlight could be habit forming. Having good lights helps.
To embrace the bizarre we camped behind a noted landmark with our camp fire, shade & shelter in a large cave-like vug.

The Alabama Hills a bit crowded so we ranged farther afield so as to minimize disturbing other campers. As such we didn't explore many of the more popular eroded landforms. Even so the scenery was hard to beat. Roads and impromtu turn options seem endless making riding there sort of a playful experience.
Some more pictures now and if I can find a missing SD card will cook up a video later.

Ok, I have to make it out to ride with you at some point in 2019. This looks amazing. Desert single track is calling me.

Adam strikes a pose with his mighty KLX with a nice 14000 ft tall backdrop.
We treated ourselves to a fine meal in town then Adam was ready for a nap so I wandered a bit with the camera. Once dark we saddled up for another 15 miles of night riding re-visiting about 5 miles of singletrack I was lucky enough to find...might be more, maybe I need to return one more time.:)

I owe the engine up-grade to you Brian. Many thanks. Going to miss the sense of redundancy and security afforded by the kickstarter though...should have researched TTRs a bit more before dumpster diving on the Craigslist motor you located. Maybe I should keep an eye out for a XT motor or lower end.

Nice BLM and Inyo National Forest campgrounds dot the region for those wishing more than just a cave. Bilingual too.
Didn't get to practice my Spanish but at the hot springs used some very stale Russian trying to welcome two Ukrainian couples.
