Hey guys I have a 95 and it hasnt had battery function this summer. I've been riding it once or twice a week. Im wondering if there's an easy way to tell if the battery is shot or if its not charging. I guess I will be taking it in to a battery shop to ask them. The only symptom I can give you is that the headlight and blinkers are flickering and sometimes cut out or dont work with throttle up.

Thoughts?

If the battery was neglected all winter it has probably sulfated. If the battery is old, it is probably toast.

Once or twice a week, if the ride is long enough, will keep a battery fresh.

Is the fuse good?

Classic failed cell symptoms. The headlight dims with rpm INCREASE, may even go totally dark when the brake light or turns are on.

It's toast. Make sure you don't have charging or regulator issues. The checks for these are in the service manual.

If everything checks out, you're golden with a new battery.

Walmart sells a Schumacher (think) SMART battery charger/maintainer for $20

Allegedly also has de sulfating cycle

Comes with both clips and a nice pig tail plug that can hang out the back.*

Plug in and forget

Anytime I have an off road with I always imagine being in water in a hollow

and having a dead battery, so making sure its good is important

*I have like 6 little batteries so am moving it around in the winter
