I am pleased to announce that a new, stunning, prestigious award will be available exclusively to TW200 Forum members!

Just think how happy your wife will be when you bring this home to be prominently displayed in your living room, garage, man-cave or wherever. Women will want you, men will fear you, your kids will be smarter and better behaved and it may even help you grow new hair. Crafted in gold (I'm pretty sure it is solid gold!), exotic wood, marble and precious gemstone, it features eagles and an angel, and an artistic representation of you taking flight on your TW.

(For obvious safety reasons, only the upper tier of the trophy will travel)

Here are are the rules:

-You must be a TW Forum member in good standing with good character (scratch that one, most of us would be ineligible)
-The current possessor of the trophy can only award (unload) the trophy to a new recipient on a ride of at least 50 miles during which the trophy must be carried on their bike
-The current possessor may award the trophy to whomever he chooses and for whatever distinction, no matter how dubious
-The new winner must graciously accept the trophy (no give backs) and agree to post on this thread the reasons why he deserved this award, including pictures of where he has now displayed the trophy
-I know this one will be hard to do, but the new winner must attempt to pass this trophy on to a new winner as quickly as possible so other members have a chance to achieve this high honor

Your first chance to win this award will be during the following ride on November 23, 2013.

It will be my privilege to bestow this lovely trophy to a well deserving participant on this ride.

Let's see where and how far this trophy can travel (I just want it out of my house).

Brian

what a great idea!

that said, i think that as the unofficial ride photographer it'd be a conflict of interest if i didn't recuse myself from the competition.

someone is going to be really lucky!! ;)

Of course, I will make sure that the trophy presentation ceremony is captured and posted so that each of you can send your congratulatory messages to the lucky recipient!

Still plenty of time to join this ride:

Sorry Skippy, sometimes us here in the colonies don't speak and understand English so good ;) !

I certainly hope that this award gets to travel internationally. (All I know is that I am getting rid of it this weekend!)

Hey, you guys over there aren't still pissed off about that whole 4th of July thing, are you  ?

The first TW Traveling Trophy ride is in the record books! For more details see the following thread:

http://tw200forum.com/forum/trails-off-road-adventure-riding/8779-frank-raines-regional-ohv-park.html

Here is the trophy catching the morning sun in a secure, undisclosed location (my garage) awaiting the rest of the motorcade which included a police escort (no kidding - Bill Michaels is a retired San Francisco police officer!).

Bill, my son Matt, and I met up with Tony, Darrell, Andrew and Joe at The Junction and enjoyed some lunch outside on a beautiful California day. Our TW's and the traveling trophy drew some admiring and envious looks from the cruiser and sportbike crowd. Sorry guys, you'll have to upgrade your rides to become eligible for this baby!

We then proceeded to Frank Raines OHV Park. Bill and I kicked back at our private picnic table while the others took off to explore the park. After an hour or so the group returned and regaled us with stories of huge hills, raging creeks, and various explanations for the assorted collections of mud on both their bikes and bodies. Joe, Darrell and Andrew went off to explore another section of the park and soon returned with more fresh mud and stories.

It was then time for a brief awards ceremony which included:

Honorable Mention - Matt - For agreeing to spend his birthday riding with Dad and a bunch of mostly old guys on little motorcycles.

2nd Runner-Up - Bill - For his bravery in taking his inaugural ride with the nutjobs that make up the NorCal TW Forum group. We hope he comes back for another ride!

1st Runner-Up - Tony - For suggesting this ride and also for his continued generosity for letting Darrell ride his ever-improving "parts" bike (Darrell says he wants some heated grips and a Jimbo shield before the next cold weather ride, Tony).

And last but not least, the trophy winner - Joe Band - For his prodigious riding prowess tackling the gnarly trails, greasy mud and slippery water crossings of the Frank Raines Park. Some of you may remember that Joe attempted to recuse himself from the possibility of receiving this award. Fortunately the judges unanimously agreed that this selfless act of humility made Joe even more deserving of the award. Congratulations to Joe!

Joe graciously accepted the award by saying "I don't know what to say" (although I think he may have muttered a few things that can't be printed here!).

I for one will be closely watching the San Jose Mercury News for what will surely be a front page article about this achievement and I will let you all know the times and date of the upcoming parade in his honor.

I am being forced to form some opinions about the members of this forum. Maybe this trophy is one reason not to associate with that NorCal group of "old men that ride small motorcycles", although I do prefer to do my own judgments.
On the other hand, sounds like a great ride, lots of fun "which is what it is all about", great friends, and that part attracts me. Thanks for posting.
