Beautiful sunny day saturday so went for solo ride over Low water brige on Cache creek and found Bucks island. Put about 100 miles on the "Black Widow".....Found two more hidden trails that will be coming back to explore later. Ran out of sunlight this ride.
Nice trails up here!
Miles and miles to ride.
Davis creek reservoir.
Bucks island from way high high.

To any Tdub riders in this area, I suggest checking out this place. Miles of trails/fire roads. You can enter from Knoxville/berryessa road or off highway 16 past Cache creek Casino.

Boy, that sure does look like it offers some really fun riding. And much, much warmer than where I'm sitting...with a cold. Nice photo's, makes me wish I could be there riding.

By the way, I like the Black Widow symbol on your headlight/dash cowling!

Bark busters and new riding gloves really helped with the cold hands I experianced the ride before. Was about 40 degrees riding there and about 60 on way back. I felt alot colder on way back cuz I was tired and hungry (forgot to bring food....lol). Didn't see any other riders but did see quad tracks. Saw a single backpacker way up on ridge when coming back. There wasn't too much sunlight left and he had a long ways to get back to his vehicle. I'm sure he was walking in the dark.....

Hey importmech, I'd love to hook up and go for a ride in that area some weekend. I'm just down in Walnut Creek/east bay. We might even be able to get some other folks together from the site. -josh

That would be great. Really close to this riding area is Knoxville OHV which I've only been to once and would like to explore more. They have this "red elephant mine trail" which says is about 10 miles long. not sure if its too steep for the Tdubs but worth checking out. I rode up a pretty steep trail this last ride and some wheel spin but was impressed how well the tdub will climb with enduro type tires (had tires at 13 psi). If it was even slightly muddy/slick I wouldn't have tried it....(was by myself)

Is this part of Mendocino Nat'l Forest? Is there a parking lot for cars with trailers near by that is sort of safe? When the weather gets a little warmer and the days a little longer I too would be interested in going.

Not really sure but don't think its part of the Mendocino forest. I'll have to check a map. There is safe parking with small trailer at low water bridge entrance (off highway 16). Cache creek regional park is right next to it but they close the gate to their parking lot during the winter. I always see other vehicles parked near entrance and have seen small trailers on some. Seen a few quads but don't think its really legal for them to ride there so have just taken the tdub. I think the sherrifs know people ride their quads in there but just don't seem to enforce it. When it really starts raining or they release lots of water from Indian valley reservoir and Clear lake the bridge is under water and not crossable. So I'm trying to get in as much riding before it starts raining. We'll have to plan a tdub ride for any people in the area once the bridge is crossable in the spring/summer. By then I should have the place we'll scouted out so we don't get lost like I did the first time...LOL. Check it out on google earth. Find lake berryesa and go up to small lake (davis creek reservoir). or look for highway 16 and county road 40.

Hey Norcal TWs any chance on trying to put together a ride this weekend? Maybe we can guilt importtech to going back to cache creek?

Just a thought since trails are still dry.

LOL, It is. They have posts but can easily squeeze bikes and even quads by. I think ur legal once u cross the condemned 20's low water bridge. The bridge was condemned and too costly to repair or replace years ago. I've been there several times and never seen the law cuz they would have to come in from the berryessa/knoxville road side. Guess they could bring their quads or dual sports in but I'm guessing they have more important things to do. Seen hunters, guys shooting guns, backpackers, hikers and tourists.
