I tried very carefully to remove the oil drain bolt. I used PB Blaster and let that soak, I tried an impact wrench (delicately), vise grips, a pipe wrench, and then read on here how someone used a chisel to get their bolt off. When I looked at the bolt, there was no seam between it and the case. It looked like it had fused with the engine case! So I got a chisel and carefully tried to work the bolt. Slowly but surely, the bolt kept breaking off until now I just have a hole and a broken bolt inside the engine case - no head remaining. I'm wondering if the oil had ever been changed because even now, the bolt is not coming out at all.

So has anyone else had this much trouble and did anyone put a helicoil in place?

Drain... bolt? Can you post a pic of it? m.

Sorry, disregard! After I don't know how many hours, I finally got the drain bolt off. I had to destroy it to come off and thankfully did no damage to the threads or case. I originally thought the "bolt" head I saw was the drain plug but realized later it's quite a bit larger. The bolt head completely chipped off when I was trying to use a chisel. I eventually had to cut slots in the outer part of the drain bolt with a cutoff wheel so I could try and turn it with a screwdriver. It's off now so I'll order a new bolt on Monday.

Now I know why the oil was so dirty! The previous owner probably tried and said forget it!
