Have a free day sunday so wanted to see if anyone in this area wanted to ride around Indian Valley reservoir (northern Cal) area. There are few trails I still want to explore. Anyone? Took a few pics. MrGizmo had his camera and will probably be posting more pics soon.

Boy, that is certainly something I should commit to and the weather should be very nice. I will PM my phone #, and put my camera battery on the charger now. Gerry..

I am in the area and would love to ride. However, this is one of my weekends to work. It looks like your rides are all on Sat. or Sun.? I work rotating shifts, so it is maybe I'm off, maybe I'm not. Do you ever ride on week days? Hopefully one of these days we can hook up for a ride with The Black Widow and Fugly.

Jomama, right now I only rake leaves for 3 hours on Fridays every other week. If you would like to do something in the Stoneyford, Elk Creek area let me know. Gerry

Gerry and Mike, Thanks for the reply. I wish I could ride with you tomorrow, just can't this weekend. I work two weekends in a row, one day shift, one night shift, and then get the next two off. Unless I have to cover for someone else. This is a night shift weekend. What are your ride plans? If you get anywhere close I could get out for awhile just to meet up. Regardless, have a good ride and post the pictures.

Edited first post and added a few photos. MrGizmo has a better camera and will probably be adding pics soon. Best nature scene was mama quail with several very small baby quails trailing....In the bushes before could even think about getting camera ready.

Nice ride fellas. With all the sun abound in the photo's, it looked warm, so I could see where some fires might take place from time to time. You all got some good miles in on this ride. I suppose we better get our back country rides in soon with all the fires popping up. Probably get worse as the summer rolls on.

Thanks for sharing guys!

Good slide show Gerry. Lucky we didn't get lost in that one area. I figured between the two of us we would get back to the main road. Then you showed my your can of marker paint.....

It was fun. We got turned around by a locked gate on Benmore canyon road which was really more of a quad trail then road. It was a rusty old gate with a well worn path around it. We decided not to go around it but I might venture back to the other end of it and explore. The other end of it ends up almost at highway 20 on new long valley road. Hey Jomama, have you explored this trail/road?

Mike, Benmore Canyon is not on my radar. I have been on many of the trails in that area on a Quad a few years ago but mostly to the East of Walker Ridge. I have also come in to the other side of the dam on a BLM trail starting in Spring Valley. I don't think my TDubb skills are good enough yet for that type of trail. The Quad is much more forgiving. I'm glad that you and Gerry had a good ride. It sounds like others are interested in a ride in the area. Are you up for seeing if we can get something going? Anyone? Anyone?

joemama, Looking forward to riding with you and whoever else wants to go. Didn't ride this last weekend because didn't sound too fun in 100 plus degree weather. Busy for next couple of weekends but will look at calendar and pick a good day in the future.

I did a bit of research. Sure looks like a ride out of Bartlett Springs could end up in Stoneyford, or perhaps Elk Creek. Planning such an adventure would likely take LOTS of research as there are so many twists and turns.

Personally, I think I have had my fill of the Indian Valley Reservoir area. This time of year it is so dry and exposed. I certainly would have an interest in the higher elevations North of Indian Valley and West of Stoneyford and Elk Creek. Gerry

Mike, it looks like a get together may be a month or more down the road but looking forward to it. Let's keep trying. Gerry, your research is correct. Bartlett Springs to Stoneyford is doable. And yes, if twist and turns translates to multiple routes, you are again correct. I think that this time of year it is going to hot and dry in the forest regardless of elevation. A ride from Bartlett Springs Road and Hwy 20 to Stoneyford would be 1340' to 5000+' at Goat Mnt. Elk Creek is a bit further North than I am familiar with so I would need you be be my guide in that area. That most likley is close to a midway point between us. I'm game.
