Suppessors should be mandatory. Saves your hearing and reduces concern from your neighbors.

Someone commented that in Idaho you can legally build and use a homemade suppressor as long as it is stamped " Made in Idaho" .
Gotta love the Gem State!

Yeah, don't do that. The Federal government has very little Constitutional authority to regulate anything. Most of today's federal laws, never contemplated by the drafters of the Constitution, are based on the Commerce Clause. The Federal definition of "touching interstate commerce" is all encompassing, including using a telephone that is linked to a system that crosses state boundaries. That advice will result in a quick trip to federal prison.

Yeah, I would avoid any situation where a state tries to counter a federal regulation. So if quiet shooting is essential just don't use a firearm to shoot. There are pre-charged pneumatic air rifles with black powder level performance in some hefty calibers like the Chinese Dragon Claw in fifty caliber. Folks have been known to hunt some pretty darn big critters with these lead slinging brutes. One can even shoot lighter 250 grain .45 bullets from a sabot for greater velocities against mid-sized game without the big "Bang"or "Boom" of a firearm. images-2.jpeg images-3.jpeg images.jpeg SamYang-DragonClaw-Dual-tank-50cal_SY-10502-500.jpg images-4.jpeg

Good luck W/ that Zdiver...
Being in Ca. I would truly love suppressor to be legalized at ranges. I can't tell you how many times some mall ninja w/ a 223 AR and a Muzzel break throws down on the bench next to me blowing my spread sheets all over. Come on .223 + Muzzel break...really!
I would apply myself for use w/ my 308 sub-sonics, but that is a purely selfish reason. Suppressors are ( and should be ) for the law abiding sportsman, unfortunatey every, and I mean EVERY advance in in the shooting sport has been subverted by a some fringe group of our society for criminal or illegal actitivy. I don't think that can be argued. Having been a hunter, and knowing who and where, I have no doubt our deer and wildlife population would suffer from unscrupulous shooters and poachers. So I'll just continue to ware my muffs and roll my eyes and keep CalTIP on my speed dial...
