First time since last September when Predator (Peter) and I jostled around on our TDubs. This time I was going down to the annual Spring Jersey Devil Hunt Rally which is a Ural based camping and trail-riding event. On the day I left it reached 100 degrees which was very odd for this time of year. Only about 5-6 of us showed up that Thursday and despite the heat we did have a big fire as it was the only way to keep the mosquitoes away. Thankfully it cooled down the next couple days and the riding was technical, tough but always fun.
Other than wounding my sidecar fender with a tree I faired pretty well as did most if not all of the others. For the final day and ride we were up to 16 rigs which is a record. Folks fishing or walking by when we were street riding on our way to the trails completely froze in place watching us ride by. Must have looked like some sort of Government operation... but not out Government. Ha.

I really, really wanted to bring the TDub too. My fancy-shmancy VersaHaul is also a tow/trailer hitch extender. However I would have been definitely asking way too much of my short-framed Jeep Wrangler which would have become a aerial spotlight under those conditions.

Sorry Honey.

Couple video's of Fridays Rides (2 forays into the woods), about 12 minutes of edited mayhem:

And Saturday's ride with the big group. A few mechanical calamities as well mixed with the sand, water and mud and oil. About 9 minutes:

I don't think I've seen a Ural in real life. I bet the Ural draws questions from people a lot more than TW's do as the Ural seems much more unique. Sidecar draw I suppose eh? ha ha. Ural's seem like they would be very practical though I only hear the rumor about their reliability. Rumor and watching the video's :p. They look fun to ride.

FYI. If any of you guys enjoy WWII reenactment this might be right down your alley. I'm going to seriously try to make this reenactment this year. A friend of mine has attended this twice and he is just blown away.

That is really cool!
I saw some Ural guys in town a while back, and they said they try to get together every year.
They also said that they did amazingly well on the trails.
I've never driven a sidecar rig, but it looks too fun to be legal. Thanks for sharing.
There is a similar group that does Moab every year. I believe earlier in the Spring.
Rock and sand rather than the mud and slime we go thru. Looks like great riding fun out there.
