well i have 90 tw 200, my battery is due for replacement and i was thinking of different battery options and was wondering what people have tried? id prefer not to go stock lead acid with plugs, heard about people who used other types, i also thought of possibly things like 2 rechargeable 6v lantern batteries, or making a Frankenstein out of other rechargeable batteries. Would those have discharge characteristics too slow for the bike? Especially cranking or the alternator overcharging? If you know of other forum support for it, please let me know, id like to pack as much power as possible in there without being ridiculously expensive.

I have the original battery from my 2008 TW and the battery was pretty exhausted. I bought a battery float charger from Harbor Freight for $9.99 and it refreshed my battery to full tilt. Great buy and it works great.

Don't credit the charger. The OEM batteries are generally good for at least 3 years if properly cared for. My last battery died of neglect when I was too sick to care. It was over 4 years old.

I'd be very leery of batterystuff.com's tutorials. There is a bit of questionable information, such as fully charging a dead battery in 6 hours, which is a good way to boil some types and materials dry or blow some up. Worse, many of the variables that affect charging and battery life aren't even mentioned at all.
