Battery Options

345 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  axismatt
Guys - Need to source a couple of batteries for my (2) T-Dubs. I really want a AGM or GEL battery, so I don't have to worry about leakage. I know that Lithium Ion is an option, but I have a higher level of confidence in the older tech at this point. I checked with my local "battery warehouse", and they said they don't have anything other than a lead acid battery that is not sealed. Does someone have an option that I can look for?

Thanks!

Why not just order an AGM from an internet site like Amazon or E-bay?

There are lots of options on Amazon, as others said. Measure the stock battery (the dimensions are listed here on the forum someplace, but if the gel battery you find is smaller, most folks wedge some foam into the voids. Also, there is a parts and vendors thread someone started recently (that I thought they were going to make into a sticky) that had a list of preferred and tested items and the vendors who sell them. The search bar is your friend.

Walmart.com. That is where I have bought all my AGM & Gel batteries for my bikes. I will never put a non-sealed L-A in a bike or ATV ever again.

I had the YTZ7S Scorpian AGM battery from BatteryStuff.com. They are right at $50.00. It lasted right at 5 years. It is a little smaller and lighter than the lead acid battery. It started much better for longer than any lead acid that I had even though it is actually rated a little lower.

I have found Walmart.com a great place to find sweet deals on things you wouldn't normally associate with the store. For example, I bought a bunch of AR500 shooting steel from the site... some 8" and 10" rounds and some torso plates, and they were at least 30% cheaper than the next best price online. Also found some pool cleaning supplies much cheaper than anywhere else. How ever their affiliate program works, I like it!
