Taking the "Black Widow" along to Reno this coming 3 day weekend. Girlfriend is playing bingo with friends so instead of hanging around Casino all day wasting my money I've decided to ride "Moon rocks OHV" and Hunter lake trail. Any Reno area riders interested in riding sat or sun? Be nice to ride with someone who knows the area so not wandering around like a lost sheep. Found moonrocks staging area last time here so know where it is. Have map to hunter lake trail. Any tips would also be appreciated by someone who knows these riding areas.

Anyone? Guess I'll be riding alone. Won't be the first time. Weather reports are saying possibly rain and snow in the sierras. Should make for interesting rides. Will bring camera of course.

Had fun two days of riding. Completly different types of riding. Saturday rode Moonrocks (north of Sparks/reno) and weather was cold and windy. Was surprised at how sandy it was and the big wide rear tire on the Tw worked well. Got hailed on and a few light rain sprinkles. Fell twice and one was going down steep deep sandy trail. Able to get back on and slide/ride it down. Very crowded with at least 40-50 rock crawlers and 500 or so people. A few wide open sandy valleys to really open it up and fly. Sunday rode Hunter lake trail which is southeast of Reno. Dirt and rocky trails. Weather was alot nicer with just a sweatshirt needed. This is not a ride for a beginner riding a motorcycle. Really tested my slow rocky trail skills. Didn't fall but was kinda tired from yesterdays ride so didn't make it to Hunter lake. Saw about 10 jeeps and a few quads. Was near top (8,000 ft) but trail started getting big rocks and only have skimpy stock engine shield so decided to turn back. Engine shield is next on my list and will come back and find the lake and explore more. For those who don't have the "Riderplanet" smart phone app. Very handy and gave me Gps voice directions to staging area.

Cool looking area. Interesting, I didn't put 2 and 2 together until you posted your photo's, but my youngest son went down to Moonrocks this past weekend as well. He was with some friends and took his KX250. When I talk to him next, I'll ask him if he saw a Black Widow TW, or should I say "Thee Black Widow". Can be a small world sometimes.

I bet some of those rock crawlers had it tuff, but that's what they do. Thanks for sharing, I really like your posts.
