These are indeed very special bikes, but are far too rare and expensive to actually ride. I am a vintage vehicle enthusiast, and love vintage bikes, cars, and trucks. But my tastes run more toward something you can actually ride/drive. About 20 years ago, I had a 1966 Bonneville. Back then they were considered cheap pieces of junk. But I loved it anyway. Unlike most modern bikes, it had character. I have always regretted selling it. A couple of years ago I started looking for another one. I couldn't believe the prices for anything decent. I finally gave up, and bought a new 2013 Royal Enfield B5 Bullet. For about half the asking price for a nice mid '60s Bonneville. It provides the right look, sound, and feel, and is more reliable. But I would still rather have the real thing.
