Wish there were a pictorial or video for this maintenance procedure, the part in the service manual looks nothing like what's on my '07. There is no "locknut" or "plastic adjuster cap" as far as I can tell on mine either.

Well that explains a lot! I would say this was a wasteful post but maybe anyone else with the same question will search and find this thread. Thanks bud!

We do need an updated service manual to spread around. Not to mention the color coding differences messes a few folks up.
Oh, if you're worried about the cam chain, take the cover off the left side of the cylinder and have a gander.
