Not sure, but think long end is down, which is backwards from Harley Keihin CV40. The long end up on the CV40 does not seem natural and when long end is down, mid-range is terrible.

Make sure the longer end goes in first. It's not symmetrical.
edit: I think my post is backwards, sorry.

Yamaha calls this part a "nozzle".
Everyone else would call it the main "needle jet".

I noticed the main jet holder wont screw down all the way unless its in correctly.

I'm pretty sure this very part is the reason I got my 2013 dirt cheap. No matter what I did on this part, it would siphon gas around it's outside diameter into the venturi and mess up the mixture (especially at WOT) and I suspect it was a defect in the main carb body not the nozzle. I bought a new carb and my TW ran like a top. Had to pull off the airbox to see it happening in action even at idle.
