They say a picture is worth a thousand words. A good cartoon can be even better;)
As you can see various circuits contribute additional fuel with increasing rpm to the overall supply to the engine. I find it helpful to review this occasionally.

...and where's the "coaster" circuit? :)

This is a good one. I've posted it many times when peeps are having carb trouble and trying to learn. Worth a sticky!

Is that accurate? I thought vacuum would cause the pilot jet to feed fuel at ALL throttle positions (?).
You thought right. It does, just not as much.

I can't thank Irppcer enough for originally posting this video long ago. While not perhaps perfect it does show the interplay happening. Helps when trying to explain that indeed the pilot jet and pilot mixture screw contribute at higher rpms for those who occasionally insist on arguing the contrary.
