Hello TW techs.

Gotta question. I am in the middle of upgrading to Pro-Taper High bends and ran into some difficulty. I have a 1990 with the older style slip on/pound on style clutch perch and while banging away trying to run it down the new handle bar (stopped moving about a 1/2 inch past the end of handlebar) i ended up over stretching and breaking it in two. Searching for the OEM replacement part i found that 2001 and newer models have a 2 part clamp style clutch perch. Perfect I think? Question: Will the newer style work with my existing clutch lever, mirror and will the new clutch safety wire (yeah I broke that too) have the same connection into my wiring harness as the old style and if not is it as easy as cutting the old plug end off and splicing it with the new wire coming out of the clutch perch?

PS. Wait until after the 3 day weekend before taking a hammer to your bike.....

Thank you for any advise..

I'd think mirrors are pretty universal and to my knowledge all tw years have the same 7/8" bars....so the newer clutch perch should fit the protappers..... One of my dubs has the clutch safety switch eliminated and that was as easy as touching the two wires together and taping it up

Thanks TeeDubs, the tape trick works for me and will save me $17 :)
