Just got a 2003 TW with 530 miles, everything seems perfect except the clutch engagement point. When you let the clutch out it only grabs when the lever is 100% released. The cable seems to be tight and have very litte play. Is this normal? Please Help. Thanks

Release the clutch cable until it feels good. You can do that at the handle bar or at the clutch.

The easiest way is to do it at the handlebar.

Johanjos provided a geat photo here. On the clutch arm comming out of the case, note the 'hook' on the return spring. In this photo the hook is properly situated, that is, it is over the arm and pushing to hold tension on the cable and release the clutch. Many of us found that our springs were never 'hook-up' and did nothing. Double check yours. Gerry

I did not use a correct term or discribe the function properly. I would guess it simply takes all the slack/drag out of the cable as to allow the clutch plates to close against eachother fully. Gerry

To put some closure on this before we sticky and lock it down, here's the photo with an arrow pointing to how the spring should be attached. During assembly by the dealer, many of them forget to bring the spring up and over the arm, thus creating the lazy clutching problem. Make sure yours looks like this one. Photo:
