Any one live in or near Columbia,SC? I would really like to meet another TW owner
I know of a few trails if you'd like to get together and ride.

I go up to Anderson and Clemson from time to time and around Greenville and Spartanburg. I need to get a trailer so I can go by myself. My friend has one so I just go when he does. Let me know if you head down anytime and i'll try to make a day out of it. Pics look real nice!

YourTW will drone along on highways forever at 55mph on 2-lane highways. Might take 3 hours instead of two, but you can ride to the mountains. Too bad those rich city pukes in SC bought up all the property on Hogback Mountain and closed the road over the mountain too Tryon. That, 176 from Saluda to Tryon, Glassy Mountain Road and the Greenville Watershed made a peg-dragging fun paved TW loop because it was narrow and tight.

I grew up right in these parts, in fact, my brother lives on Glassy Mountain Road. The watershed ride by Camp Old Indian and up to Tryon would be a blast on a TW. Highway 11 to Ceaser's Head and Brevard would be a fun ride too. I used to road cycle all those roads when I lived there so I am intimately familiar with the elevation changes!

I have been dying to get a couple of days free to ride from down here on the coast to the Upstate. PSC, maybe we could meet up and ride the TW's up there, or we could throw both bikes on my trailer and head up. I have already mapped my 2-lane route from down here, mainly coming up west of Columbia and hooking up into Highway 25 south of Greenwood into Greenville. From there you can take your pick of country 2-lanes. Looks like Hwy 378 at Hwy 25 west of Saluda could be a good meeting spot.

If we meet up with Qwerty I owe him a more beers than a TW can haul for all the help and advice he has given me!

Check your PMs, I am forwarding my contact info.

176 from Tryon to Saluda is a blast. Steep enough and twisty enough you can WFO a TW and barely break the speed limit, and lots of truck lanes for passing. Local traffic only, as it pretty much parallels I26. One of my favorite roads anywhere.

There are no bad roads north and west of Saluda, just some are better than others. Blue Ridge Parkway is 30 minutes. Tail of the Dragon and Cherohola Skyway are 2 hours. 276 from 25 to 19 is awesome, then take 19 and 28 to the Dragon, though Cherokee is a drag.

I live in Atlanta and I have begun the planning stages of a road trip during mid May. My plan so far is to pack up my fishing gear, a bar of soap and a sleeping bag and head for Memphis. I will spend the night with a buddy there, then head east to some lake. I will do this for a couple of days/nights until I reach the tail of the dragon and then into the Carolinas with my next scheduled stop in Florence, SC cause I know someone else and can get a real bed to sleep in. Then back to Atlanta from there. I am hoping that there will be a multitude of people on this site that know of a nice spot to fish such as private ponds and stuff and wouldn't mind me sleeping right there on the bank. I find big lakes to be dreadfully hard to fish if you don't know them and even harder if you don't even have a boat. However, I am certain that state parks and such will be my only option because private land owners are often quite stingy with their land (although not without good reason).

I've really been craving a real, back to nature type of trip. I eat what I catch, sleep under the stars, and when I start stinkin' I'll just jump in the water and lather up! I am from Kentucky, after all.

But anyway...... I here Greenville is really nice in mid May and as such, I may need to swing by in that direction...... If you can lead me to a good fishing whole!

I live north of Charlotte in Huntersville. My favorite place is the Wilson Creek area. There is something for everyone from single track to the blue ridge parkway. The Mortimer campground makes a great place to center riding operations.

There is a 20 mile "dirt dragon' road called Maple Sally. It's a blast!

Here is another ride in the area.

If anyone wants to ride this area, let me know .. I can be there in about just over an hour.

PSC,

Last year we moved from Columbia to the north Georgia mountains. No more frustration about the lack of twisty roads! I've always liked the Tryon/Brevard area, too, but we found our dream home in Ellijay. I also bought my TW a few months ago as did my neighbor, TWisty. It's the perfect bike for the forest service roads around here. Life is good!

I am luck to have a pond next door. blue gill, bass and catfish. I pulled 70 out the first day in a few hours. They want the small fish thinned out as they eat the bass fri. Lots of catfish too. I took an oak sapling, put a line on it about a foot longer than the pole, a hook and used sausage. A bite everytime it hit the water. Thing is my gal did the fishing, all I could do is keep up unhooking and baiting. Never got a line wet myself. Anyone coming by Pine Mountain ga, send me a note.
