Hi Everyone! I think I am ready. Well as ready as i'll ever be. I'm leaving ventura on friday morning early and riding solo up to Sacramento. From there I will meet up with some friends and head over to Fan Francisco...

I had a tune up on my lovely and purchased a very cool(warm) touring jacket and just put on a new windshield... I thought it might look ridiculous but I was pleasantly surprised.

I shipped all my clothes to SF so I wouldn't have carry so much... I know koo koo but I want just a little bag with just the necessities on it...

My sweet guy sent me a care package containing a tire changing kit, earplugs, a butt pad, and some lovely little good luck bells... So I think I'm set. I have AAA and my i phone so I'm ready..

I will stop every hundred miles to fuel up and take some photos....

can't wait!

Ps I meant San Jose... But I think you know that

Good luck. Have fun. Doable in one long day -- about 400 miles.

You planned on I-5? Remember the cars on I-5 usually cruise along between 75 and 85 mph and many go faster. Stay to the right.

Just looking at the map it might be nice to take Hwy 33 north until it intersects I-5.

Are you really sure you don't want to take a two lane road?

You've got more between your legs than I do and I don't know if that's a good thing. I-5 is like the freaking autobahn. Are you sure you don't want to rethink taking the scenic route? Good luck, have fun and be careful.

I-5 on TW???? I think someone is nuckin futz..... Take the 101, you will enjoy it much more... I'd take a 10 hour enjoyable ride over a 5 hour white knuckle ride any day... but that's just me.... hell, throw a sleeping bag on back and camp out overnight along the way. You can also sit on the sleeping bag after you get a good case of monkey butt

Click the above link. Hwy 33 goes from Ventura to Ojai and points north. The beginning is a bit twisty but the valley part is long, straight and flat. Hwy 33 pretty much dead ends in Tracy which is about 85 miles short of Sacramento. Parts of Hwy33 and I-5 coincide so you will have to go short distances on I-5 anyway. If you find it to your liking then stay on 5. If not, or if the CHP kick you off, you are going to need a plan B. If you don't have one yet, get a map of California from 7/11 or a gas station. You just might need it.

Study the map in the above link and any paper one you have. You can enlarge or shrink the above one and you can drag it down. Make a good alternative route. I am not familiar with surface streets going from Tracy/Stockton area to Sac. My experience in that part of the valley is in the east/west direction.

Have a good trip. Good luck, dress warm, and pay attention to what you are doing. Tony

Paging Ms. Roadkill:

So, how did it go?

I'm Back and in one piece.....

Thanks for your support and thoughts! I had a surprise visiter,my sweet guy came out to get me on thursday so I would'nt have to go up alone .... We headed up i 5 on thursday evening and stayed overnight just north of bakersfield so I could calm my nerves...
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be with all the trucks...but as soon as I was climbing to 3000 ft My bike really had NO power so I hung in there with all those trucks and kept telling myself " just breathe and focus"

The next morning we headed into Yosemite and it was absolutely fabulous!
Then ended up in Sacramento where I slept slept and slept some more... Man this riding is sure hard work!

The scariest part of my trip was going on the Bay bridge with 10,000 cars coming from all directions... Ya kinda intimidating .... The next few days we camped outside Santa Cruz and then I made my way back home yesterday on the 101 solo and I think I became a much better , confident rider...

So when Is my next trip?

I took 101 on the way back home and your right much more enjoyable... I received a wonderful gift Airhawk butt pad which was perfect and got a heated jacket from my sweet guy which really without those two items I don't think I would of made it....

On way home We camped in Santa Cruz area and the weather was 80 degrees amazing... So my lil adventure turned out PERFECT!

Can't wait for the next..

Thank you tony for the great recommendations ... I will. Its funny how many comments i got with my tw....I believe we stayed at the seaside campground but could be wrong...

Actually I did manage to crash.... tried going off road and of course was going to fast and down I went... Chain came off and then was a little loose.. so I might need a new one all together!
