I got my Web Cam 389a back today and thought today would be a good day to start. The cam came back well packaged and full of information from cam specs to installation instructions! I have several pictures I am posting also. My plans for this build are: On my ttr225 build I went with the 389a but I am stroking, boring to 74mm's and have a port job with larger carb and custom 1.5in ID exhaust which actually tames the cam due to increased volumn and free flow intake and exhaust. The 389a on a stock tw would be pretty radical and have a high rpm power band. I am using their most expensive spring kit since the cost difference in low. If you degree the cam where it actually is advanced or opening before the straight up cam alignment you start the power earlier or lower in the rpm range and this will bring the cam power into a lower rpm and widen the power band. I am running 13.0 to 1 compression Wiseco piston which will also increase torque. I make my own octane booster from toluene and xylene with other products. With the small capacity of motorcycle fuel tanks, you don't use a lot of octane booster so it is easy to carry extra on the bike or with my travel tanks already mixed. The compression ratio will be tested first with stock head displacement in cc's!

I must say my experience with Web Cams was very good!

I have new rockers and rocker shafts. New valve guides shortened to unrestrict air flow on the intake and exhaust. New valves that are specially coated stainless steel. I am keeping the original valve sizes since the ports are opened well over stock and moving from a 34mm to a 36mm carb. I will take mesurements and pictures of valve guides and ports once finished so anyone can reproduce them.

I am still recovering from shoulder reconstruction surgery and in my 5th week of physical therapy so this is a work in progress to be kind of a goal or prize when I get my shoulder squared away. Please be patient with me in posting progress since I have limitations.

Just so you know where and what I expect from my work I will lay some background. I raced motocross in Texas and went to the Grand Nationals in 1976. I got injured there and wasn't able to compete. I funded my racing from working after school and college. I did all my own work on everything and that is a huge tribute to the lost shop courses in Junior and Senior High Schools as of late. I also street raced motorcycles and cars. I raced right up until my shoulder injury at work in November. I run the hell out of everything I build so I build it to last and stay together. I may be 61 but I have only slowed down how fast I get things done not my speed on land, in the air (also a pilot since I was 14) or water.

I'm very exited about following your build. Thanks for taking the time to document it start to finish with pics. It's threads like these that really ad value to a forum like this.

looks great so far. il be right behind ya. I should have my 74mm cylinder back next week. I think im going to opt for the 389 grind but with the same springs. What carb are you going to chase after? I wanted a lectron, but they didnt seem to think it would work well.

This is one 36mm carb I have brand new. I also have the ttr225 34mm original. I am also using Thunder Products Intelajet that I have used before that was excellent!
