Hi all, just recently bought an '87 T-Dub and noted on the site someone talking about their "steering lock". I didn't even know these bikes had them.......does my '87 have it? If so how do you lock the steering? This is my first street legal bike so I'm a total NOOB when it comes to this stuff.....

Turn the handle bars all the way to either the right or the left. Now with the key in the "Off" position press down on the key and let it come back up. Now turn the key to the left to the "Lock" position. As far as I know the 87 has a steering lock like all the other years.

did it work, im curious if it has one too? on mine it doesnt specifically say "lock" on the switch....i dont get mine back until thursday. might just have to wait and see....

That may be something to check out. Maybe there are some that don't have a steering lock, or maybe it is just worn off?

I use mine all the time on my '93 TW. Works as described (though I guess I've never tried it with the bars turn full right. Since the kickstand is on the left, I always turn the bars that way). My bike also has a helmet lock on the left side which I've used a few times.

yup, turns out the 87' does have a steering lock. it doesnt advertise itself on the ignition but sure enough...it has one! provides a little extra security for sauch a light bike. but then again....i just park it next to my buddys ducati monster. i figure if a theif wants a bike he sure as hell would take the ducati rather than my t-dub.lolol
