I've changed my own oil since I've had my bike, but this time has been the pits. I was wrenching my plug and it slipped and damn near broke my pinky. So I tried again and it just rounded off the corners of my drain plug. Now I'm screwed, unless any of you know a trick.... I must have used a crappy wrench or something, it's never been a problem before. Time for a new plug.

Lol. No need for shame on this site. You aren't the first and won't be the last to not search before typing. I second the vice grips as the easiest remedy. Go ahead and get a new drain plug and take this opportunity to buy a rare earth magnet and use a dab of jbweld to stick it on there. Only use a little so you can pry it off and replace it when it loses its strength.

Lol that does not qualify for the walk of shame! I was gifted some of those craftsman "universal" sockets, tried using them once and they love to eat bolts i recomend staying away from them. They ate the drain plug on my car, had a buddy chizzle her out. So yea since then i learned how to propery set a socket, you should be braking bolts befor stripping them if u were using good tools or the propper size.

Am I special or are there certain TWs that have magnetic drain plugs from the factory?

With your new drain plug use only a 6-point socket or wrench. They are much less prone to round the corners off when breaking the plug loose.
