Looks like fun, I'll have to save that route for sometime later though... I'd be very interested, but supposedly I have a wedding to attend that weekend.

Yeah, it does look good. I've never done that much riding before, so I'm nervous about finishing, but it seems like they have good support in place.



My family has some land near the route passes NW of Nacodoches, so I may go and do a little recon to see what they've mapped out. Now, if only it weren't so very, very hot, I'd go next weekend. Hopefully it will cool down soon and I'll get the chance to go.

I'vce never heard of www.dualsportevents.com, but for you folks in Texas I can highly recommend www.twtex.com 's dualsport forum. Many good people there. Many will laugh at you for riding a TW200. Pick your riding partners carefully.

twtex.com is where I found the information for this ride. I've been to an event organized by other members of that forum, so I'm reasonably comfortable with the folks there. The TW gets a few odd looks, but just as many of the "Man, I really love those little bikes" comments.

The twtex.com folks are a pretty good bunch for the most part. I grew weary of riding with people that seem to crash and burn about every third ride. I've known a few to crash 5 or 6 times a day, which really makes my back hurt helping them pick up their overgrown 450-pound dirtbikes. Then there are those who are "really good riders", but they fly off the bridges and run into trees for some reason. Throw in a few that often have equipment failures on a regular basis, and you might not get much riding done. Just for fun add in a few who think every dirt road is their personal racetrack, leaving the slower riders to deal with the pissed off locals. Yup, be careful whom you ride with. Everyone has a bad day every now and then, but some people have a bad day on a very regular basis. I go to a ride to ride, not to babysit someone who does not ride as well as he thinks, or has not adequately prepared his bike for the conditions that can be reasonably expected, or just plain does stupid things. Come to think of it, most every big group ride has its share of idiots. Doesn't seem to matter what state you are in.





Watch those wooden bridges in East Texas. Wood is very slippery when wet. Even more so when moss and algae grows on them. Grooves between the boards making up the wheel tracks can be quite unforgiving. It is better to ride down the middle between the wheel tracks.
