The Goddess got a set of Fatbars and adapters/risers as a Christmas gift. Her Acerbis Rally Pro guards won't fit the new bars due to the tiny I.D. of the bar ends and the tapering of the mid-clamps, so she needs a new mounting kit.

There are beaucoup kits out there and I've read some tales of poor fit, particularly concerning funky or poor grip at the tapered sections.

Whose mounting kits have you used, and how was the fit?

I can't testify as to the TW, but I have Fatbars on my DR 650.

I put on Cycra Pro Bend hand guards .

The inboard ends mount right next to the handlebar mount , so you don't need to deal with the tapered part of the handlebars.

Here's a photo of how they mount :

(I haven't had any dealings with this vendor...you may find a better price)

I like those mounts. Should work with her Acerbis. She also has a Scotts stabilizer that I've yet gotta sandwich in there somehow.. Gunna get pretty crowded up there. lol.

Guess I'll take the whole mess to the "big box" motorsickle store.

Check in with The Gear Doctor, Mr. Gizmo. No one can pack stuff onto a bike like the 'Giz'

Thanks for the input. I got them on after about a hundred miles of shopping using the Acerbis "X-Strong Universal kit." You'd be amazed how many places sell the bars and brushguards but not the hardware, which used to be an included item

Today would not be a good day to get my objective opinion of Fatbars, but if you think you're gunna want them at some point down the road postpone buying amything further for your 7/8 bars. Plan ahead and buy the bars and brushguards, brushguard hardware and riser/adapters at the same time. You'll pay nearly te same amount for the Fatbar adaptive hardware for your existing guards as you will for new guards and hardware after the fact.

They do look nice and the Acerbis hardware worked nicely. Mama's happy.
