Well, I knew it wouldn't be long. I took my first spill on the little guy today. I came around a left turn on a really unkept dirt road and went wide right to miss a huge pothole, didn't notice the huge washed out trench along the right side till it was almost too late. I got the bike slowed down to about 10-15 mph before I hit the trench. My foots a little sore from getting caught under the bike and the plastic piece that goes over the muffler has some pretty nice gouges/small holes. Picked it up and kept going, thing's a trooper!

Glad to hear you're OK. Damn pot holes... I'm a put-put on roads 'till I know the turf, still... Usually what scares me the most is some idiot using more than their fair share of my side of the road! No words of wisdom from me, as the road ahead is always an unpredictable path.

most of my spills come from trying to avoid something that I think will make me spill. I'm a newbie so this point could be worthless, but I try more and more to just get in my "ready" position (up off the seat, knees bent, elbows bent & pointed out) and just f'n gun it through/over whatever and I spill less. hope your foot feels better!

If you had been going 10-15 mph to begin with, you could of slowed to 2mph before hitting the trench....

But then, I'm an old fart and I don't normally go more than 10-15 in the dirt....

Unless it's a good graded road that I know real well.

I'm glad to read that you are okay after your spill. The first one kind of bruises the ego. Falling coming naturally to me now. Now I gauge a ride on how tough it is on how many times I fall.

Matt.....your journey(s) are no different than other folks....don't feel bad!.But I agree with folks above.Around my area I always ride as if Ive never been on that stretch of road before even though I've been there 100's of times....as stated above, never know when "something new" has been added or deleted since your last ride through!.I've had my eye on a power line tower row that runs up and down and around...etc,through the hills here in SW Ohio.My main concern with this power line tower section is....hmmm,I wonder if there are any trenches, blind holes etc. on that trail?.....well,I'll just have to walk it firts or ride VERY slowly for the first bit to see if it is maintained or not?. My point is,we all "usually" have the same concerns about the "road-ahead"!.

Rainman, don't sell yourself short, anyone that made it through that Easton ride is a decent rider.
