You got that right!! We can tell from the grins on the grandkids' faces they're having fun. Enjoy your time with them, Grandpa Ronnydog! I have 12 grandkids myself. The youngest is too small to ride yet, the oldest I went on a ride with the other day. He was on his TTR 125 and was wheelying over the whoops while Grandpa tested the limits of the TW suspension.

Had the whole family at Deer camp this last year. Every time I got back to camp from a days hunt he would come running wanting a ride around camp. (very slow of course)

When my son was 3, I gave him an Indian Mini-Buffalo made by Italjet.

When my grandson was three, I mentioned to my son

that he was the same age that my son was when I bought him his first motorcycle.

My son looked at his son, then looked at me and said, "What were you thinking!"

It may be a while before my grandson rides with me.

You have to wait until your son asks you to baby sit, then leave the decision up to your grandson.

I finally joined the club last night.

Anyone know where we can find a Shoei sized for a 24 hour old?

Not to rain on the cute parade (because you all have some adorable grand kids!)

Just remember helmets! The law will rain down way hard on you if they catch you riding with a kid on board without a DOT helmet (bike helmets don't count).

Friends with a local safety instructor who filled me in and it just makes sense. I would die if anything happened that I could of prevented. Get a good priced helmet in kid size. AFX etc. are way reasonable and safe.

We all have our own personal standards I realize, just wanting to emphasize some safety.

We have no laws mandating helmet use for motorcycles while used offroad. Bicycle helmets are mandatory for on road use, so here anyway bicycle helmets do count. If bicycle helmets reduce head injuries when falling on concrete at bicycle speeds they will certainly provide adequate protection if the grandson fell off at 1mph on the lawn, where we rode for approximately 100 feet in total. I would never take a passenger on the road without the required safety equipment. Just wanting to ensure you that I was emphasizing safety because if anything happened to the little guy the law would be the least of my concerns.

Congratulations. Depends on how they are going to wear it.

I can't put my hands on the pictures at the moment, but I have a photograph of my first born sitting in an upside down 3/4 helmet at age two weeks made in 1970 and a picture of my first grandchild sitting in my full face Shoei with his legs through the face hole at age two weeks made in 2002. Had a hard time getting him back out of there so don't wait too long.

If an injury occurs when a child is not ATGATT, ticketing for not having a helmet won't be a problem. Charges of negligence brought by child protective services can land you in jail. In some places there are laws dictating at what age a child can ride or be taken for a ride, even offroad on private property.
